Kohima, September 2 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen on Wednesday launched the ‘Nagaland Labour Chowk’ mobile application, an initiative aimed at modernising employment services for construction workers in the state.
The application was launched at the Chief Secretary’s conference hall, Kohima. The application initiated by the Department of through the Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (NBOCWB), aims to modernise and streamline employment services for Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) in the state, a DIPR report said.
The app seeks to transform the traditional “labour chowk” system into a digitally enabled platform connecting construction workers with employers, it said. According to report, the platform will help workers access employment opportunities, welfare schemes and skill development services, while allowing employers to connect with registered workers.
It will also facilitate worker registration, job search and labour engagement through digital means, besides strengthening transparency in the BOCW ecosystem, it said.
The application is available for download on the Google Play Store, where construction workers can search for “Nagaland Labour Chowk” to register and access the services.
Workers and employers can also visit the online portal, labourchowk.nagaland.gov.in, to register, log in and avail themselves of services on the platform.
The initiative is expected to benefit construction workers across the state by improving access to employment opportunities and welfare benefits through a single digital platform.
