Nagaland: Durga Puja celebrations

People visit a Puja mandal as part of Durga Puja celebrations near Head Post office Kohima on October 22. Durga Puja, a festival of victory of goodness over evil, is being celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety across India, and particularly in East India. In Nagaland, it is observed most prominently in the commercial capital Dimapur and state capital Kohima. On October 19, the Hindu Seva Samiti Dimapur (HSSD) also issued certain rules and guidelines to various Puja committees and appealed for observing the festival with wholesome religious Hindu spirit with good discipline and the decorum.
