Nagaland Election: Final training for counting officials

Dimapur, March 1 (MExN): Counting of votes cast in the recently held elections to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly will take place on March 2 from 8:00 am onwards. In view of the counting day, the last round of briefing cum training for the polling personnel assigned for ballot counting held across the state. 

Peren: The last round of training for Counting Supervisors, Assistants, and Tabulators was held at Town Hall, Peren Town on March 1. The training was held in the presence of Counting Observer for 6-Tening AC, Purushottam Paswan, stated a DIPR report. 

The trainees were given a demonstration on the counting of votes recorded on EVMs, and the counting of postal ballots in detail and were also briefed on relevant Form filling procedures. He also informed them that counting for 6-Tening AC, counting will be held at DB's Court, ADC Office, Peren Town while for 7-Peren AC, would be held at the Conference Hall of ADC Office, Peren Town. Further, he highlighted the arrangements that are put in place at the Counting Centres.

During the course of training, the trainees clarified their doubts with the Master Trainer. The training was imparted by Nodal Officer for Training Management & Master Trainer, Albert.

Mokokchung: Final briefing cum training for the polling personnel assigned for ballot counting under Mokokchung district was held at Town hall, Mokokchung on March 1.

The counting of the ballot will be carried out in the office premises of Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung on March 2 from 8:00 am. A DIPR report stated.

Master Trainer Vinod demonstrated and instructed on the procedures to be carried out during the process of ballot counting.

Earlier, ADC Mokokchung, Chumamo Humtsoe expressed his appreciation to all the polling officials for their collective effort in conducting the polling successfully in the district.

SDO(C) Mokokchung, Longti Sangtam briefed the polling officials on the procedures to be followed for Postal Ballot vote counting while AEO Mokokchung, Renben Mozhui briefed them on the arrangement made for the counting process.

Kiphire: Counting training was held at DC's Conference Hall Kiphire on March 1. The training was conducted in the presence of two ROs from both 59 AC and 60 AC respectively.

During the training, Master Trainer Gagan encouraged all the trainees to be very sincere and attentive while counting the votes so as to avoid any mistakes. Once counting is over, everyone should recheck it two to three times. Since counting is the last part of the Election process everyone should focus only on their assigned duty.

A DIPR report stated that every table will be assisted by one Micro Observer and as per the directives from the ECI everyone should reach the place of counting by 5 am. 

The counting will be held in two places for 59 AC Seyochung-Sitimi DB's Court DC Office and 60 AC Pungro- Kiphire in DC's Conference Hall Kiphire.

43-Tapi AC conducts post-poll scrutiny

Post Poll Scrutiny of Form 17 A and other documents for 43-Tapi Assembly Constituency was conducted on 28th February 2023 in the presence of the General Observer with the representatives of the candidates at the chamber of Returning Officer Rongsenmenla, NCS.

“They Verified Form 17A and other documents, whether the poll was conducted in a free, fair, and peaceful manner, as per the guideline of the Election Commissioner of India (ECI),” stated a DIPR report. 

Peren ADC office scrutinizes poll documents

The Scrutiny of form 17 A and other documents was done by the general observer of 6 Tening & 7 Peren Assembly Constituency, Manoj Kumar IAS and the Returning Officer (RO) of 6 Tening & 7 Peren Assembly constituencies in the presence of candidates' representative agents on February 28 at ADC conference hall Peren at 11:00 am.

According to a DIPR report the scrutiny was done for any of the following categories: Polling stations where complaints of poll ringing and malpractice were received during the polling process; Polling stations where any significant event EVM related or otherwise was reported; Polling station where poll took place in the absence of any polling agent or in the presence of polling agent of only one candidate; Polling stations where the number of electors who cast their vote using documents other than EPIC and exceeding 25% of the total votes cast in the polling station; Polling stations where more than 10% of electors have been identified as ASD turned up to vote; Polling station where polling percentage is plus 15% or minus 15 % than the average polling percentage of the AC; Polling station where there are at least five tendered votes/challenged votes reported.

“The political candidates’ agents after the scrutiny had no complaints. General Observer Manoj Kumar IAS declared that there will be no re-polling in the Peren district of 6 Peren and 7 Peren Assembly constituencies,” it stated.
