KOHIMA, JULY 1 (MExN): The Government of Nagaland has launched Phase 2 of the Nagaland Disaster Management School Safety Policy (NDMSSP) Compliance Course, a mandatory digital training programme aimed at equipping teachers in government and private schools with essential disaster preparedness and school safety skills.
The programme is being implemented in collaboration with the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), the Department of School Education (DoSE), and NagaEd, a digital education platform.
The NSDMA School Safety Policy (SSP) Compliance Course was initially launched on December 1, 2023, by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio. During Phase 1, a total of 7,567 teachers registered for the course, out of which 3,193 educators have been certified, reflecting strong initial participation.
With the commencement of Phase 2, the state government has called for full participation and completion of the training by all teachers. The second phase aims to cover new registrants and encourage those who enrolled in Phase 1 but are yet to complete the course.
According to NSDMA, teachers who registered in Phase 1 must complete the course by June 30, 2025. New registrations are also open, and teachers must complete the course within the stipulated timeframe to receive their certificates. The final deadline for all participants is October 31, 2025.
Teachers who have already completed the course are encouraged to assist their peers in registration and completion. Schools with the highest number of certified teachers will be recognised for their efforts.
The digital course is accessible via the state education portal at https://education.nagaland.gov.in. Users are required to search for the NDMSSP Course and follow the instructions to register and log in. Upon successful completion, participants can download their certificates from the dashboard.
For support, teachers can reach out to their respective EBRC Coordinators for block-level assistance or call the helpline number +91 9863869718 for technical or registration-related queries.
The training is designed as a self-paced digital course, allowing teachers to complete the modules without disrupting their regular teaching duties. It includes interactive videos, quizzes, and real-life case studies aimed at building a culture of preparedness and resilience across educational institutions.
“Ensuring school safety is not just a mandate, it is a moral responsibility. Our collective effort in digitising safety training ensures that no teacher, child, and school are left behind, regardless of location,” said Johnny Ruangmei, Joint CEO of NSDMA.
“This initiative reaffirms Nagaland’s commitment to school safety and showcases the power of digital learning to reach every educator, even in the most remote areas,” added Kevisato Sanyü, Co-Founder of NagaEd.
As the state moves towards full compliance, the NDMSSP Compliance Course is being projected as a model for how technology and institutional partnership can enable systemic transformation in the education sector.
The government has reiterated its appeal to educators statewide to complete the course by October 31, 2025, to ensure every school in Nagaland is equipped to provide a safe and secure learning environment.
