Salary & wages which accounts for the largest amount within revenue expenditure has increased from Rs. 5647.82 crore in 2020-21 (Revise Estimate) to Rs. 6255.56 crore in 2021-22 (Budget Estimates) in Nagaland.
This was stated in Nagaland Economic Survey 2021-2022 tabled by Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Government of Nagaland at the recent state assembly session.
On percentage basic, salary & wages which alone account for 46.81% of revenue expenditure in 2020-21 (RE) is estimated to fall to 45.68% in 2021-22 (BE) on account of the reduction in the number of employees due to retrenchment/death and simultaneous band on requirement by the government.
As a percentage of total expenditure on consolidated fund, salary and wages accounts for 23.27% in 2020-21 (RE) and 27.42% in 2021-22 (BE), the report stated.
Pension and other retirement benefits
The report stated that pension and other retirement benefits which is the second single largest component of revenue expenditure is estimated to increase from Rs. 1980.24 crore in 2020-21 (RE) to Rs. 2333.93 crore on 2021-22 (BE).
On the basis of percentage, pension and other retirement benefits as a percentage of revenue expenditure is estimated to increase from 16.41% in 2020-21 (RE) to 17.04% in 2021-22 (BE).
