Nagaland Government directs DCs to heighten vigilance amid Assam eviction drive

Kohima, July 21 (MExN): The Office of the Commissioner, Government of Nagaland, has directed all Deputy Commissioners to maintain “heightened vigilance and take proactive measures to prevent any Potential influx of illegal immigrants.” 

The directive comes in view of the ongoing eviction “against the illegal immigrants undertaken by the Government of Assam”, raising concerns that displaced individuals might attempt to enter Nagaland. “There is apprehension/risk that some displaced individuals may attempt to cross into our State,” Nokchasashi, NCS Joint Commissioner (Hq) office of the Commissioner Nagaland stated in an advisory. 

In this regard, all Deputy Commissioners have been directed to “heightened vigilance and take proactive measures to prevent any potential influx of illegal immigrants within your respective jurisdiction.”

“This proactive approach is crucial for maintaining Law & Order and for safeguarding the demographic integrity of our State,” the advisory added.
