Nagaland Governor and CM mourn Pope’s demise

Kohima, April 21 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland La Ganesan and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio have expressed profound grief over the demise of His Holiness Pope Francis, who passed away at the age of 88.

In a condolence message issued from Raj Bhavan, Governor Ganesan described the Pope as a revered spiritual leader whose life embodied humility, compassion, and unwavering faith. “As the Head of the Catholic Church, he championed the cause of peace, social justice and care for the poor and the marginalized,” the Governor stated, offering heartfelt condolences to the Catholic community and all who mourn his passing.

Chief Minister Rio, in a social media post, said he joined the world in mourning the pontiff’s passing. “A shepherd of peace, his humility, wisdom and compassion transcended faiths,” Rio said, adding that Pope Francis’ enduring legacy would continue to inspire humanity.
