Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav on Wednesday said he was committed to working with all sections of society in the state to build a peaceful, developed and inclusive society.

Addressing his first official district tour to Phek, Yadav said meaningful progress could only be achieved when people moved forward “in partnership, with mutual trust and a shared sense of purpose.”

“As Governor, I remain firmly committed to working together with all sections of society — public representatives, tribal bodies, civil society organisations, youth, women, and the administration,” he said.

Yadav said he was touched by the rich culture, traditions and the heartfelt spirit of the people of Phek, adding that he would always cherish them as a symbol of the deep bond between Lok Bhavan and the district. Noting that Phek was blessed with natural beauty, vibrant traditions and hardworking people, the Governor said the strength of the district lay in its unity, resilience and the collective aspirations of its communities.

He said the visit was aimed not only at understanding the developmental needs and aspirations of the district, but also at strengthening the spirit of cooperation and collective responsibility. Yadav expressed confidence that with continued collaboration and active participation of every stakeholder, Phek would move ahead on the path of peace, development and social harmony.

Later, Yadav had a review meeting with different departments of the district wherein the Department of Health & Family welfare, School Education, and Rural Development highlighted its respective ongoing activities, schemes, and achievements.

He told the concerned departments to hard work with sincerity for the welfare of the people.

CPO President seeks infrastructure development push
Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) President Vezuhu Keyho told the Governor that Phek District, with its rich cultural heritage and strong community values, continues to strive towards inclusive growth and progress. “Our people remain dedicated to unity, hard work, and cooperation,” he said.

Recalling that Phek District celebrated 50 years of its establishment in 2023, he said, “It still lags behind other advanced districts in infrastructure development, particularly in road connectivity, and the absence of a helipad or heliport remains a major concern.”

Touching on vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, he said, “Districts like Phek must be empowered through inclusive infrastructure development and digital connectivity, ensuring that even the most remote regions become active contributors to the nation’s growth story.”

Strengthening rural economies and improving access to quality education and healthcare will be key pillars in achieving this vision, he said. “While we have made progress, challenges remain in infrastructure and livelihood opportunities. We are confident that, with your guidance, these areas will receive focused attention,” Keyho added.

Describing Governor’s visit as a source of inspiration, especially for motivating youth to contribute positively towards nation building, he said, “Despite limited sports infrastructure, the youth continue to excel at national and international levels.”
