Nagaland Governor, Chief Minister extend Moatsü greetings

Kohima, May 1 (MExN): Nagaland Governor PB Acharya and Chief Minister Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu have extended warm greetings to the Ao people on the occasion of Moatsü Festival.   Celebrated after the completion of seed-sowing, Moatsü provides a period of recreation and entertainment after a stressful work of clearing fields, burning jungles and sowing seeds.   Governor Acharya in his message called for taking time to thank the Almighty “for His unwavering love and blessing” and to continue to safeguard and promote the rich culture and traditions through festivals.   “My wife, Kavita Acharya joins me to convey our best wishes to the Ao Community during this festival period. May the festival of Moatsü bring peace, unity and prosperity to the Ao’s in particular and Nagas in general,” Governor Acharya’s message read.   Meanwhile, Chief Minister Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu called for introspection and mending damages in our society “just as the cleaning up of Tsübu (wells) and repairs and construction of houses are carried out during the festival.”   “Being the pioneer district, the Aos have a huge responsibility in many ways to carry the Nagas to a progressive society,” he said and expressed his happiness over the friendship extended to the Angami community through Angami Public Organisation on the occasion of the festival this year.   “The seed of friendship you have sown today will definitely bear fruits tomorrow, not only between the two tribes, but among all the Naga tribes,” Dr. Liezietsu’s message read.   NPCC: The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has also extended warm greetings to the Ao community. “As the festival marks the end of the hard work of the sowing season and the celebrations filled with merry making, singing and feasting, may the Almighty God bestow a rich harvest upon the community,” the NPCC stated in its message.   Further stating that Moatsü is also a time to revisit our culture and display it in the finest way to be passed on down to posterity, the NPCC prayed, “May it also be a time for fostering peace, goodwill, brotherhood and oneness across society.”
