Nagaland Governor to take oath today

Kohima | March 20

Governor designate of Nagaland Ashwani Kumar arrived here this morning where he was accorded a warm welcome at the Assam Rifle helipad. Kumar, a former CBI director and DGP Himachal Pradesh was received by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Council of ministers, Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) Speaker Chotisuh Sazo, Nagaland DGP Besesazo Kezo, Chief Secretary Alemtemshi Jamir and other top government and army officials.

At the helipad, Kumar was presented with a guard of honour salute by the Nagaland Police before he proceeded to the Raj Bhavan, Kohima where he was received by the Raj Bhavan Secretariat staff.

The oath taking ceremony of the new state Governor will take place on March 21 at the Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan, Kohima at 11:00 A.M. Chief Justice of Guwahati High Court, A. K. Goel will administer the oath of Office. Kumar replaces outgoing Governor Nikhil Kumar, who has been made the Governor of Kerala.
