Kohima, June 16 (MExN): Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav on Tuesday participated in the self-enumeration phase of Census 2027 at Lok Bhavan, Kohima urging all citizens to actively participate in the historic digital exercise.

The Governor, who enumerated his own household during the event, stated that Nagaland has joined the rest of the country in the Census under the theme “My Census, My Development.” For the first time, citizens can self-enumerate their households online during the period from June 16 to 30, marking a significant step towards a citizen-centric and digitally enabled Census, according to a press release from the PRO Lok Bhavan.

“Census 2027 is being conducted in a fully digital mode, making the exercise more efficient, inclusive and accessible,” the Governor said. As India progresses towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, the Census will provide critical data for development planning and help ensure that government schemes and services reach every section of society, he added. The information collected will support informed policy decisions in sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure and social welfare.

The Governor acknowledged the dedication of over 6,100 Census officials deployed across Nagaland and urged them to perform their duties with sincerity, professionalism and integrity.

Making a fervent appeal for collective participation, the Governor called upon tribal Hohos, community organisations, village councils, colony authorities and respected elders to extend full support to make the exercise a success.

“The Census is not merely a count of people; it is a foundation for future planning and development,” the Governor said, urging every citizen to wholeheartedly participate in the self-enumeration process and cooperate fully with officials to ensure every household and individual is counted.

Reiterating the Census 2027 theme, the Governor called upon all citizens to contribute to building a stronger and more developed future through their participation in the national enumeration exercise.
