Kohima, October 2 (MExN): The Governor’s Secretariat and Household Staff, Raj Bhavan bid farewell to the Additional Secretary to Governor, George Abraham on his retirement, on September 30.
During a farewell programme at the Conference Hall, Ura Bhavan, Raj Bhavan, Commissioner & Secretary to Governor, T Mhabemo Yanthan said that Abraham was an officer who is “professional in his approach to work and a man of immense humility and sincerity.” He described the retiring official as an individual who faced any kind of challenges with calm and humility.
Yanthan, credited him for creating a good and conducive working environment at the Bhavan and also tagged him as the ‘Moving Encyclopaedia’ of the Raj Bhavan Secretariat. He also reminded the officers and staff to follow his examples and learn the rich knowledge and the legacy he has left behind, a press release from the PRO, Raj Bhavan stated.
He congratulated him on completing his 35 years of sincere and dedicated service and mentioned that the void created by him will be difficult to fill.
The outgoing office George Abraham thanked the Almighty for the service he could render to the Government and the people of Nagaland, adding that the completion of his career in good health is an achievement.
Abraham also shared glimpses of his experience serving in the highest office of the State and stated that he has gained professional personal growth in knowledge, wisdom and friendship.
He elucidated that the Raj Bhavan was a machinery for developmental growth in the State for which it shouldered huge responsibility and hence encouraged all to continue the dedication towards providing good service.
Reminiscing about his service days, when he first joined in 1987, Abraham thanked all the people he worked with, stating that he could complete serving the Government for three and a half decades, only with their support and cooperation.
He acknowledged and expressed gratitude to the officers and staff for their constant support and cooperation throughout his service.
Earlier, a dinner was hosted by the Governor of Nagaland and Assam in honour of the retiring officer at Raj Bhavan.
The programme was chaired by PSS to Governor & Chairman, Staff Welfare Society, Sureshkumar RP, vote of thanks was proposed by JSO, Avizo, short speeches were also delivered several officials and staff. They described Abraham as a good bureaucrat who worked diligently and who always extended his help whenever required. They expressed gratitude for his approachable nature and for the opportunities he provided during his tenure at the Raj Bhavan.
