Dimapur, January 3 (MExN): The Western Yimchungru Hoho (WYH) & Western Yimchungru Student's Union (WYSU) have condemned the Nagaland State Cabinet’s decision to ‘disallow’ the YAA Golden Jubilee celebrations to be held at Shamator Hq from January 7-10, 2016.
Following a meeting held on January 3, the organisations condemned the “sudden change of direction by the Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues.” The organisations maintained that such an order passed just three days before the YAA jubilee program has “hurt the sentiment and pride of Yimchungru Naga and importantly the morale of the student's community has been let down by the Government.”
“The Yimchungru being one of the 16 major tribe's of Nagaland, and which had played a pivotal role in the creation of Nagaland State, has been sidelined by the State Government at this hour,” they noted.
In a press statement signed by WYH President, PKF Tochu, WYH General Secretary, Atsumong, WYSU President Amos and WYSU General Secretary, Tsukhumong, the organisations condemned the State Government in “sidelining” their two elected representatives, Torechu and R. Tohanba, who were not consulted before taking the said decision. Official sources informed that an emergency Cabinet meeting was held in Dimapur on December 30, 2015, to discuss the issue. However, a copy of the State Cabinet order could not be obtained.
The Western Yimchungru organisations have urged upon the State Government to honour the charters proposed by the YTC and YAA and “revoke” the order pertaining to YAA jubilee at Shamator.
