Kohima, November 20 (MExN): The Government of Nagaland has designated the Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) as the nodal agency for executing a framework to develop and promote the state's live entertainment economy.
According to a DIPR report, this move aligns the state with the national agenda detailed in the white paper “India’s Live Events Economy: A Strategic Growth Imperative.”
The DIPR will now be responsible for coordinating the state's efforts to strengthen and streamline the live entertainment and events sector. Its mandate includes facilitating a supportive ecosystem for promoters, creators, event managers, and cultural stakeholders involved in live events across Nagaland.
A key directive for the department is the integration of state-level event permissions into the proposed Single Window Clearance System on the India Cine Hub Portal. This initiative aims to ensure faster, more transparent, and efficient facilitation for event organisers.
In the notification, Chief Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen, IAS, stated that the DIPR will work closely with all relevant line departments to consolidate approval processes and improve the overall ease of conducting live-event business in the state.
This step reflects the state government's commitment to professionalising Nagaland's growing creative and cultural industries, encouraging investment, and unlocking new economic opportunities.
The move is also seen as a significant measure to position Nagaland as an emerging destination for high-quality cultural, entertainment, and live events, while empowering local talent and strengthening the state's creative economy.
