Nagaland govt makes wearing masks in vehicles mandatory

•    Rs 200 penalty for mask rule violators
•    New SOPs for vehicles to come into effect from August 9

Kohima, August 6 (MExN): The Nagaland Home Department on August 6 notified Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) applicable for all kind of vehicles in the State.

The SOPs which will come into effect from August 9 has made wearing of masks mandatory for those travelling in private and commercial passenger vehicles. Everyone including the drivers, attendants should mandatorily wear mask at all times, as per the SOPs issued on Friday. If anyone is found not wearing mask, he/she shall be fined an amount of Rs 200, it added.

Vehicles have also been advised to move with their windows rolled down, to all extent possible.

Meanwhile, pillion riding and two wheeler taxi services continue to remain suspended while carrying of passenger(s) in any transport vehicle carrying goods/commodities, including water carriers, dumpers, etc., shall not be permitted.

Inter-state travellers or those passenger(s) transiting through Nagaland will continue to be guided by the revised SOP for returnees and inbound travellers issued earlier on July 26, it added.
