Nagaland Govt School Students Meritorious Award 2023 conferred

Kohima, June 13 (MExN): The Directorate of School Education (DoSE), Nagaland felicitated the meritorious students of the recently declared HSLC & HSSLC results in a grand programme held at the Morung conference hall, DoSE, Kohima on June 13.

A DIPR report stated that during the programme, the Nagaland Government School Students Meritorious Award (NGSSMA) was given to three High School Leaving Certificate 2023 best-performing government school students, Rahul Roy, from Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima; Monika, from Government High School, Khulazu Basa and to Arenchetla from Government High School, Khar.

NGSSMA was also given three toppers from Higher Secondary School (HSS) Leaving Certificate (Arts) Watisangla from Mayangnokcha Government HSS, Mokokchung who secured the top 5: Kilenkala, Government HSS, Tuli who secured top 9, and Kikogwamle from Government HSS, Jalukie who secured top 10 in the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (Arts) Examination, 2023.

Certificates of Merit were also presented to 29 HSLC government schools and three HSSLC Government schools that secured 100% from the State at the recently declared HSLC and HSLC Examination 2023.

Sharing of best practices in schools was shared by Longrimendang, Teacher in-charge, Government High School, Mangmetong, Mokokchung, and Supongtola Aier, Vice Principal, Government HSS Naginimora, Mon.

NGSSMA is an award instituted by the Government of Nagaland in the year 2018-2019 for those government school students who have excelled in their respective Board examinations at the Primary, Elementary, and Secondary Levels.

For the year 2023, the top three HSLC and HSSLC performing government school students received certificates of merit and a cash award of Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs10,000 respectively.

Earlier, the Commissioner & Secretary, DoSE and SCERT, Kevileno Angami in her address said that the government schools have done well because of the teamwork of the students, teachers, and parents. “Despite various challenges such as deficiency of teachers and infrastructure, the government schools have been able to produce students who have excelled in various fields showing that the government students are at par with other private school students,” she stated. “With the teamwork of the students, teachers, parents, and officers of DoSE, government schools can be rebranded as schools of excellency,” she added.

She exhorted the students to be consistent and not to rest on their laurels, but to study harder and be aware of time management, and also not lose sight of their objectives.

Expressing her appreciation to the teachers, heads of schools, and institutes, Angami said that a lot of time and effort must have been put in by the teachers in nurturing, teaching, and mentoring the students. 

The programme was chaired by Assistant Director DoSE, Kevitsiano Luho while closing remarks was given by Deputy Director, DoSE, Avino Rase. Special songs were presented by students of Rüzhükhrie Government HSS, Kohima, and Government HSS, Jotsoma.
