Nagaland govt to hold consultative meeting with tribal bodies today

Status of RIIN, women reservation in ULBs etc. to be discussed

The state government will be holding a consultative meeting with the tribal bodies on August 18 from 10:30 am onwards at State Banquet Hall, Kohima.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will deliver keynote address while Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton and NPF Legislature Party leader TR Zeliang will also address the meeting.

Minister for Geology & Mining V Kashiho Sangtam will highlight the matter on mediation between Zeliang and Sumi tribes regarding boundary demarcation of Peren and Dimapur districts.

Role of GBs will be highlighted by Nagaland’s Commissioner Rovilatuo Mor while Himato Zhimomi, Principal Secretary Urban Development & Municipal Affairs will talk on “Role of Women Reservation in ULBs.”

Justice & Law Secretary Ngamjok Konyak will highlight on “Naga Tribunals for Adjudication as per Naga customary law” and the status of implementation of RIIN will be presented by Principal Secretary for Home Abhijit Sinha.

The meeting will also witness a time for sharing views and suggestions from tribal bodies, organizations and elected representatives.

The meeting will be chaired by Chief Secretary J Alam while vote of thanks will be proposed by Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Neiba Kronu.
