Nagaland govt urged to lift ban on NCDC schemes

DIMAPUR, MAY 7 (MExN): The All Nagaland Co-operative Societies Federation (ANCSF) has urged the Nagaland State Government to lift the suspension/ban on National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) schemes and thereby start early implementation the schemes in the state of Nagaland without further delay.

This call was made during a general meeting with all its executive body members in Kohima. A press note from the ANCSF informed that the meeting deliberated on various essential issues for the welfare of the Primary Co-operative Societies.

The ANCSF stated that Nagaland falls under the category of co-operative by least developed state in the country. It added that the State Government of Nagaland is losing its share of Rs 10 Crores every year compared to other states, and therefore asked that the NCDC schemes be implemented.   It further asked all beneficiaries of Primary Co-operative Societies under NCDC/ICDP of the past year to expedite for early recovery of their loans to improve recovery drive without further delay.

The house meanwhile appreciated the State Department of Co-operatives for taking up Integrated Cooperative Development Project (ICDP) projects in 5 (five) districts namely, Kohima, Peren, Kiphire, Longleng, Tuensang.   Simultaneously, the meeting in another resolution strongly urged the State Government of Nagaland, particularly the department of Co-operatives, to expedite for early implementation of other ICDP projects without further delay in the state.   It also agreed in principle to affiliate the federation’s registration with the state Department of Co-operation as of May 5, and urged the concerned department to expedite early registration.

The house then resolved to re-organise district units in Kohima, Peren, Kiphire, Longleng and Tuensang. It asked ANCSF officials in charge of the five districts to carry out their assignments in time and give immediate report in the next meeting.

The meeting finally acknowledged Minister in charge of Agriculture & Co-operation Department, G Kaito Aye for “sincerely taking care of the department assignment” and also appreciated the Registrar, Co-operation, Wepe Ritse for “successfully improving recovery of loan” in cases of both NCDCs and ICDPs for 2017-18.
