Nagaland has at least 70936 registered job seeker; over 42% are graduates or above

As of December 31, 2023, there were officially 70936 job seekers in Nagaland, per an official report. Out of those, a total of 30,251 or 42.66% were either graduates or above, reflected the data provided in the Annual Administrative Report 2023-24 of the Directorate of Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Nagaland. 

The total included 6847 post graduates, 21545 graduates and 1859 technical degrees holders. The data is based on applicants remaining on the live register of employment exchanges across Nagaland. Meanwhile, 10,858 applicants had completed Class 12 (Pre –University) while 11965 were matriculate. A total of 17339 were below matriculate while 523 applicants were diploma holders.

The total, however, depicted a fall from December 31, 2022 when a total of 72,751 applicants remain on the live register of employment exchanges in Nagaland. During the current year, 10, 588 fresh applicants – 7237 males and 3351 females, have registered at the various employment exchanges for job assistance, the report stated.

In addition, the Self-Employment Promotion Cell (SEPC) in the Regional Employment Exchange Kohima, which co-ordinates Self-Employment promotional activities, a total of 3477 candidates were registered.

Out of which 730 were placed in various Self-Employment ventures during the current financial year, the report highlighted. The ‘placement’ included 546 in Dimapur/Peren, 120 in Mon and 46 in Zunheboto. 

A special Cell for “Physically Handicapped” (PWDS) applicants established with Central assistance has been merged with the Regional Employment Exchange, Kohima and at present, there are 1089 applicants on the Live Register under the category, the report added.
