Longleng, April 30 (MExN): Acknowledging “lack of facilities in all the hospitals across the state to combat COVID-19,” the Nagaland Health and Family Welfare, Minister S Pangnyu Phom on Thursday pointed out that “COVID-19 pandemic is a wakeup call for the Department and health workers.”
According to a DIPR report, Pangnyu who was on his visit to Longleng district held a review meeting with the government officers and NGOs of Longleng district at DC office complex. Addressing the meeting, Pangnyu stated that “working on COVID-19 is like battling with invisible enemies” and appealed to the people to be more cautious and take precautionary measures after the lockdown is lifted.
He also informed that the central government has approved the upgradation of the present district hospital Longleng with CHC status to full-fledged district hospital. He also assured that the problems of the hospital would be taken into consideration after meeting in Kohima.
The Minister accompanied by Advisor Industries & Commerce, Imnatiba and MLA BS Nganlang visited Longleng inspected COVID-19 hospital, Quarantine site at Phom Lempong School, Makeshift Hospital at Government Higher Secondary School.
Imnatiba, Advisor Industries & Commerce, BS Nganlang MLA, M Shayung Phom DC Longleng, CMO Longleng, Medical Superintendent District hospital Longleng, Phom Peoples' Council president and Phom Students' Conference also spoke at the meeting. The review meeting was chaired by Pichano Kikon EAC Headquarter Longleng with additional charge of Yachem.
Later, the team visited hospital and quarantine centre at GHS Tamlu. The entourage of the medical minister also held a meeting with district administration, doctors, nurses, NGOs and civil societies at Tamlu. In Longleng, the visiting team donated Rs 200,000 towards COVID-19 and in Tamlu they donated Rs 1,80,000 towards the Tamlu Sub-divisional Task Force.
