Kohima, August 15 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio on Saturday launched the Nagaland Integrated Information System (NIIS) at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza, Kohima, on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day.
NIIS is a digital governance initiative aimed at integrating government-related information and activities into a unified and accessible platform for citizens. Anchored by the Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR), with support from the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, the project seeks to enhance transparency, operational efficiency and citizen engagement through centralised service delivery.
The system will function as a single source of information on government activities, enabling citizens to access news, photographs, videos and other useful information about the state.
NIIS will also accommodate Government-to-Citizen (G2C) services through the integration of various APIs, allowing citizens to discover and access government schemes and digital services. The initiative is aimed at ensuring efficient and timely delivery of public services.
On the occasion, Rio also virtually inaugurated the NIIS Hub located at the Directorate of Information & Public Relations, Kohima.
The Hub will serve as the central control and coordination unit for the system, overseeing data management, integration, validation and dissemination.
Advisor for Information & Public Relations and Soil & Water Conservation, Daochier I Imchen, visited the NIIS Hub and congratulated the department and all those involved in the successful launch of the project.
Imchen expressed happiness and gratitude that the initiative, which was conceived during the tenure of his late father as the then Advisor of the department, had become a reality.
The Advisor was accompanied by Secretary, IPR, Orenthung Lotha, IAS, and officials from various departments, including IT&C and NIC Nagaland.
The launch of NIIS marks a step towards strengthening digital governance and citizen-centric service delivery in Nagaland. The initiative is expected to promote inclusive access to government information and services across the state.
Citizens can access the Nagaland Integrated Information System through the NIIS website and Google Play Store.
