Good Samaritan Women Society reaches out to senior citizens in 3 districts

 

Kohima, October 2 (MExN): The Good Samaritan Women Society (GSWS) observed International Day of Older Persons in 3 senior citizens home at Ngwalwa (Peren District), Longleng Senior Citizens Home and Kohima Senior Citizens Home on October 1.

Observing the day at Senior Citizens Home Meriema, Kohima, Akali Sema, District Welfare Officer Kohima spoke at the programme and maintained that elders are a blessing to the society. She informed that old age pension would be released soon after all necessary official procedures are completed.

Neithonuo Liegise, the managing Director of the Home and chairperson GSWS, wished all the senior citizens in Nagaland good health and gave her due respect to the elders for their great sacrifice and contribution to the family and society.

Kevinourheno Seyie and Nzan, members of GSWS visited Old Age Home in Ngwalwa, Peren and provided gift items to all the elders and staffs.

Pangmei, member of GSWS visited Longleng Senior Citizens Home and distributed gifts to the senior citizens.

Show love and respect to the elderly

Meanwhile, the Chüketshe Society (CKS) Khezhakeno also observed the day at Khezhakeno village in Phek district.

Gracing the occasion as the guest speaker, Pfükrulhou Koza, Project Director, DRDA Wokha, urged upon the gathering to recognize the vital contributions of older persons in society and to show love, gratitude and respect to the elderly people.

He requested the senior citizens to continue to spread the message of love, unity and truthfulness to the younger generations for a better tomorrow.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by Joshua Koza while Er Daniel Kevie delivered welcome address.

The programme was marked by storytelling, oldies songs and interaction among the senior citizens.

Altogether, 41 elderly persons attended the programme.
