Nagaland: JCCV suspends proposed sit-in demonstration

Dhansiripar, April 10 (MExN): The Joint Co-Ordination Committee of Villages  (JCCV) for Dimapur District has decided to suspend its sit-in demonstration scheduled on April 11 and 12 following a verbal request from the State Chief Secretary, the committee informed in a press release.

As per the release, the request was made in a meeting held in the Chief Secretary office on April 7, where he also urged to give some more days to the 3 Member Committee headed by Home Commissioner to study the matter for peaceful resolution of the impasse. Accordingly, an emergency executive meeting of the JCCV on April 10 decided to suspend the proposed demonstration, it said.

As a responsible organization the JCCV would desist from doing any kind of agitation for now in the larger interest of people and the Government, it added.  However, the JCCV decided to continue the official dealings with DC, Dimapur despite the Government notification putting Dhansiripar Sub-division under the jurisdiction of Chümoukedima district.

Further course of action would be decided in due course of time in case the matter is not taken up by the Government for peaceful resolution, stated the release.
