Kohima, August 16 (MExN): The Quarterly National Lok Adalat (NLA) undertaken by the District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) under the aegis of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authorities (NSLSA) on August 13 disposed 230 cases and disputes with a total settlement amount of Rs 4,29,66,737.
Out of 11 Lok Adalat sitting constituted in 11 district court premises, 787 cases/disputes were listed for compromise settlement which included cases in pending stage as well as in pre-litigation stage mostly in the category of bank Recovery, Criminal Compoundable cases & Motor Accident Cases Tribunal (MACT) and other cases viz. public utility i.e. Telephone Bills.
Phek DLSA was conducted NLA at District Court Complex Phek. Wokono Yhoshü, NJS, JMFC cum Secretary Phek DLSA was the presiding officer. Panel lawyers Keneinuo Swuro, Sekhotso Rokha and Thomeweu, were the conciliators. 17 Bank recovery cases were taken up and all the cases were disposed. Also 1 Criminal Compoundable case taken up and disposed off. The total settlement amount was Rs 27,07,106.
Kohima DLSA took up the highest number of cases at the District Court premises out of which 20 cases were amicably resolved and disposed. While the total outstanding amount was Rs 14,50,333.18, the settlement amount stood at Rs 5,68,481. As such total waived amount, through the initiation of the Presiding Officer and the conciliators was Rs 8,81,852.18.
In Dimapur, the DLSA Secretary, Seyielenuo Mezhü gave a speech before the commencement. 42 bank recovery cases were taken up and 40 cases were settled. 29 MACT cases were settled and one civil case was settled. The total settlement amount was Rs 2,64,45,222.
Kiphire DLSA conducted NLA with SBI Kiphire and Co-operative Bank. Phuleto Yeptho, CJM cum Secretary of the district was the Presiding Officer and Bendangwati, Retainer lawyer was the Conciliator. Altogether, 7 bank cases were taken up, out of which 5 cases were disposed off with settlement amount of Rs 3,88,865 and 1 criminal compoundable case was also taken up and disposed of on good behaviour bond.
Peren DLSA conducted NLA at Jalukie Town which was presided by Peren DLSA Secretary, Kumdilong Kessen along with Retainer lawyer Asungbe N Hau and Panel lawyer Indeu Heikha as Conciliators assisted by PLV Martin. A total number of 25 pre-litigation cases (Bank Loan Defaulters cases) and one criminal compoundable case were taken up wherein 21 cases were successfully disposed off with a total settled amount at Rs 29,64,174.
Longleng DLSA conducted NLA at District Court Complex. Presiding Officer JMFC cum Secretary Longleng DLSA Khrievono Seletsu, and conciliators Panel Lawyers P Monyei Phom and M Chingmei were present. Out of total cases taken up 11 including 10 Pre Litigation/Bank Loan Recovery and 1 Civil case, 8 cases were disposed involving total Settlement Amount of Rs 1,97,500.
Wokha DLSA conducted NLA at Conference Hall, District Court Complex Wokha. Panel Lawyers Meribemo A Lotha, Shanchobeni P Lotha were Conciliators, Panel Lawyers Gracy Ezung and Renbonthung Tsanglao participated in the Lok Adalat. 16 cases under bank loan recovery at pre litigation were taken up and a total of 14 cases were disposed. The total outstanding amount was Rs 20,71,557 and the total settlement Amount was Rs.12,90,248.
Tuensang DLSA conducted NLA with State Bank of India Tuensang and Nagaland State co-operative Bank at District Court complex Tuensang. JMFC cum Secretary Tuensang DLSA Cheliam Khiamniungan, NJS was the presiding officer. All together 22 bank cases were taken up, out of which 18 cases were disposed with settlement of Rs 11,53,638.
Zunheboto DLSA took up 18 cases where 2 criminal compoundable cases and 1 matrimonial case were disposed and 11 bank recovery cases were disposed with settlement amount of Rs 49,36,539.
Mon DLSA held the NLA at the District Court Complex. Altogether 31 cases were taken up with a settlement amount of Rs 4,28,851. B Peter Resu, Secretary Mon DLSA chaired the programme and the Conciliators for National Lok Adalat were Topha Angyen, retainer lawyer and panel lawyers Moba Konyak, Manon Konyak PL and Angun Konyak.
Mokokchung DLSA conducted NLA at District Court, Mokokchung. All together 5 banks participated and total of 23 pre- litigation bank loan recovery cases were taken up and settled. Total amount settled was Rs 18,90,109.7.
