Nagaland mourn Manik’s passing away

Governor of Nagaland K. Sankaranarayanan expressed deep grief over the demise of Manik Bhattacharjee, noted social worker and educationist of Dimapur.  The Governor in a condolence message to Mrs. Maya Bhattacharjee, wife of Late Manik Bhattacharjee, stated that his contribution in the field of education, social harmony and peaceful co-existence of people will be remembered by the people for a long time.  The Governor stated that in his death, the people of Nagaland have lost a devoted and sincere social worker.  “In this hour of grief, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family of the bereaved.  May Almighty God grant strength to bear the loss and let the departed soul rest in peace” he prayed.

Former Governor of Nagaland Shyamal Datta 
Expressing shock at the news, Shyamal Datta in a condolence message said he “shudder to think that Manik Babu is no more amidst us.” In his death, members of the Bengali community have lost a benign guardian and a friend, Datta stated. “In his lifetime, he proved time and again that life was a journey and death a destination that we all share. Manik babu will remain immortal in the educational institutions he has left behind and valuable social services that he rendered to the community as a whole” the message read. Datta expresses heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Bhattacharjee, her children and loved ones. The former governor prays to God that they are strengthened to bear the loss, and that the departed soul rest in peace.

Former Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio 
Former chief minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio also expressed shock and sadness to learn Manik Bhattacharjee’s demise. He was a prominent citizen of Dimapur who left an indelible mark on the social fabric of Nagaland due to his immense contributions to the society as educationist, active social worker and true friend of the Nagaland, Rio stated in a message. “His involvement in various fields for the betterment of all sections of society, not only in Nagaland but the neighboring states, is well recognized and known to all. He will always be remembered for his simplicity, approachability and readiness to serve the people all through his life” the message read. The people of Nagaland, particularly Dimapur, have lost a true and dedicated social worker who stood for the cause of the people, Rio said. Rio and his lady wife conveys deepest condolences to the members of the bereaved family and prays for them solace and comfort, and the departed soul to rest in peace.

I Imkong CLP Leader 
I Imkong CLP Leader expressed pain over the demise of Manik Bhattacharjee. Imkong stated that as an early settler in Dimapur and as an ardent social worker, he was actively involved in various welfare activities particularly for the down-trodden section. “My association with Late Manik Bhattacharjee goes back to more than 30 years and it is worth mentioning that he was a strong advocate for peace, social harmony unity and development for which he dedicated most of his time towards this end”, Imkong stated and expressed heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family and prayed that God Almighty would give strength and solace to bear the loss of a dear soul whose vacuum will be difficult to fill.

Dimapur Press Club
The Dimapur Press Club (DPC) has expressed grief and sorrow at the demise of senior citizen and noted educationist, Manik Bhattacharjee. “As a social worker and educationist, Manik Bhattacharjee’s contribution to Dimapur would be remembered by one and all and for the Media fraternity, he would be remembered as the founder of one English Weekly, Urra Mail. As a journalist Bhattacharjee contributed much and highlighted the plight of the people of Nagaland in the National Media”, stated a press note issued by Dilip Sharma president and Paudi Renta general secretary DPC. “The Dimapur Press Club joins the family members in this hour of grief and sorrow and pray that the Almighty God grant them solace and comfort and eternal peace to the departed soul”, it stated in its condolence message.

The Morung Express
In a separate condolence message, The Morung Express news daily expressed sadness over the loss of a prominent social worker and stated that Late Manik Bhattacharjee’s down-to-earth nature endeared him to one and all. The Morung Express stated that Late Manik with his simple-living and high-thinking conduct was an inspiration to one and all and that through his sacrifice and contribution in the field of education and social service, the Naga public especially the younger generation has much to be grateful for. The Morung Express also stated that the calming presence of the grand old man of Dimapur will be sorely missed especially by the public of Dimapur in the years to come and expressed condolences to the bereaved family members.
