Nagaland: NCA invites chess enthusiasts for CIS Program

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 25 (MExN): The Nagaland Chess Association (NCA) has extended invitation to all interested individuals to participate in the Chess In School (CIS) Program, sponsored by the All India Chess Federation (AICF) and organized by the NCA.

A press release issued by NCA honorary secretary and joint secretary AICF, Mughaho Awomi said the CIS program aims to nurture and develop chess talent in India, particularly in Nagaland. Financial support from AICF has made it possible for NCA to offer coaching classes in schools across the state. Coaches will receive compensation based on their coaching workload.

It maintained that chess has a rich tradition in India, producing exceptional talents like GM Viswanathan Anand, GM Humpy Koneru, GM Dommaraju Gukesh, GM Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa and many others. However, with Nagaland still in its early stages of chess development, the NCA has requested all chess enthusiasts to cooperate with Association in promoting and developing chess in Nagaland.

Meanwhile, in connection to the North-East FIDE Rating Chess Championship 2023 scheduled from October 21 to 27 at Dree ground, Papu Nallah, Nahargun, Arunachal Pradesh, the NCA has informed interested persons to contact the NCA officials on or before September 28, contact-7005580145.
