Dimapur, August 23 (MExN): The Directorate of Food & Civil Supplies in Nagaland has introduced updated guidelines for the General Household (GHH) scheme, as outlined in a recent notification dated August 13. This scheme is designed to extend food security to households that are not currently covered under the National Food Security Act, 2013 (NFSA).
Under the new guidelines, Indian citizens and indigenous residents of Nagaland whose annual income exceeds Rs. 2.50 lakh and who are not beneficiaries of the AAY (Antyodaya Anna Yojana) or PHH (Priority Household) schemes are eligible to apply for the GHH ration card. To qualify for the GHH scheme, applicants must be non-NFSA beneficiaries and must provide their Aadhaar numbers for all family members.
The guidelines specify that the eldest female member of the household, who is at least 18 years old, will be recognized as the head of the family for the purpose of issuing the GHH ration card. If no eligible female is present, the eldest male member will assume this role. Applicants must submit family details in a prescribed format, which needs to be certified and signed for approval. The information will be cross-verified with the RCMS (Ration Card Management System) portal.
It is important to note that simply submitting an application does not guarantee the issuance of a GHH card. Interested individuals should contact their District Civil Supply Officer or Assistant Civil Supply Officer for more information and to obtain the necessary forms. The deadline for submitting these forms is September 30, though the process will continue until further notice.
