Construction for Nagaland Medical College dedicated

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 5 (MExN): A dedication service for the commencement of construction of the Nagaland Medical College was held at Phriebagei, Kohima Village on October 5.  

Minister of Health & Family Welfare, S. Pangnyu Phom on the occasion called for collective efforts of the government, the health department and the community to make the first medical college in the state become functional by 2020.

Speaking on behalf of the villagers, the Kohima Village Council vice chairman, Khriezothie Chielie gave assurance that they will extend their full support for the progress and expansion of the college in every possible way and to make sure that no obstacle arises in the process as guardian of the college.  

The Nagaland Medical College will be constructed on a 50.20 Acre of land at Phriebagei Kohima Village. The dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Rev Viwelie Khezhie, Pastor Khedi Baptist Church Kohima.  

Awareness program on organic farming at Phek on October 6

PHEK, OCTOBER 5 (MExN): The Charity Welfare Society, Khezhakeno will be organizing an awareness program on Organic Farming at Phek town and a Seminar on Environment Awareness & Global Warming at Khezhakeno village on October 6.  

Four NPS officers get IPS 'status'

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 5 (MExN): The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has given four Nagaland Police officers the Indian Police Service on probation for a period of one year. The officers include P Sendongmeren, Etssimongo Ngullie, Videlalie Zaxhu and Rothihu Tetseo and will be allocated Nagaland Cadre.  

BJP Dimapur District appoints Presidents of various Morchas

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 5 (MExN): The Dimapur District BJP unit has appointed the following as Presidents of various Morchas: Sentimongla, President Mahila Morcha; Vijay Sharma President Minority Morcha; Khesheto Kiho President ST Morcha; and Shikavi Zhimomi President Kisan Morcha.  

RN Ravi appointed Deputy NSA

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 5 (MExN): The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved redesignating R N Ravi as the ‘Deputy National security Adviser (Internal Affairs)’ and as ‘the Interlocutor of Government of India in Nagaland’ instead of ‘Chairman, Joint Intelligence Committee and as Interlocutor of Government of India in Nagaland’. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved that the other responsibilities of R N Ravi as ‘Interlocutor of Government of India in Nagaland shall remain unchanged.  

Reminder for Niuland town

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 5 (MExN): The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Niuland has issued a reminder to all the allotees of government site at Niuland town that the deadline regarding construction of houses within five months will expire on October 31. In the event of failure to comply with the order, the site/land will be deemed to have been surrendered and will be recommended to the government for cancellation.  

NSCN (IM) condoles

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 5 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) today expressed sadness at the demise of Tatar, S Kuhovi Yeptho and Lieutenant Baushing Pucham. Yeptho, who passed away on October 4, was appointed as Tatar on February 12, 2014 “in recognition of his selfless service to the Naga nation,” informed a press note from the MIP of the NSCN (IM). Lieutenant Baushing Pucham, meanwhile passed away on October 5 at the General Head Quarters, Naga Army due to cardiac arrest. “He enrolled in the National Service on 13/05/1998. The Office of the Adjutant General, Naga Army, in paying homage and as a mark of tribute to the departed Naga Army officer, bestowed upon him posthumously the rank of Captain,” the NSCN (IM) informed. It said that both national workers served the nation whole-heartedly until their demise. “Their names shall be recorded and their sacrifices for the Naga cause shall not go in vain but ever be honored,” it stated, while conveying its condolences to the bereaved families.  

Dimapur-Pungro night bus service resumes

Pungro, October 5 (MExN): The night super bus service from Dimapur to Pungro via Phuvkiu village has resumed from October 4. A press release from the Pungro Area College Students’ Union (PACSU) informed that the department of Transportation has allotted a brand new brand new 27 seater bus which was discontinued since December last due to poor condition of the bus. The PACSU expressed its appreciation to the department and ask the public to make the best use of the service.  

Parties directed not to display party symbols at polling stations

PUGHOBOTO, October 5 (MExN): ADC & DEO Pughoboto, Phuleshe K. Yepthomi has informed that as directed by the Chief Electoral Officer Nagaland vide letter NO.ELE/CDT-78/dated 24th September 2018, and as per the Election Commission of India Guidelines, all the political parties have been informed not to paint or put up party symbol or display posters, placard, banner, flag of any party in the premises of any polling stations. This amounts to defacement of public/private property which is prohibited by the Election Commission of India. Therefore, all political parties have been directed to comply with this order failing which necessary action will be initiated against the defaulters as per relevant section of the law.
