On Gandhi Jayanti, Gov calls for  clean surroundings & conduct

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 1 (MExN): Nagaland State Governor, RN Ravi today issued a statement on the occasion of the 150th Gandhi Jayanti (October 2), urging people of the state to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi “by keeping our surroundings – be it our homes, our villages, our towns, our work places, our educational institutions, our public places clean.” “For Mahatma, cleanliness was more than mere physical and it included honesty and integrity of conduct – individual and collectives. I urge upon our people to pledge our-self to a ceaseless commitment to honesty and integrity in our individual and institutional lives,” the Governor added.

 

Medicine trade in Dimapur to close down on October 5

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 1 (MExN): The Nagaland Medicine Dearlers Association (NMDA) will close down trade in Dimapur on October 5 from 6:00am to 6:00pm in order to shed light on grievances faced by medicine businessmen. A press release from the NMDA informed that they are “looked upon like drug peddlars and owners of illicit trade in the State as expressed by the vested interests.” The NMDA said that “many people in the name of NPGS or different organization without any proper identity would come for asking fines/taxes on pretext of sale of various restricted drugs like Codiene, Diazepam or other sedative drugs which are on shelves.” It however pointed out that since December 31, 1990, there is a standing order that no pharmacy/medical store can be inspected without presence and information to Drug Inspecting Authority. It further said that members of the association are “coming under tremendous pressure for not receiving life saving medicines since last two weeks from the transporters and all the Doctors and consumers are complaining by considering it as failure on part of medicine trading community.” 
 

NPCC to observe Gandhi’s birth anniversary in Kohima

Kohima, October 1 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) in observance of the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi will be organizing a seminar-cum-meeting on October 3, 11:00 am at Congress Bhavan, Kohima. A press release from Press Secretary, Kohima District Congress Committee (KDCC) stated prominent guest speaker from Delhi will speak on Gandhian principles and ideology on the occasion. The seminar would be followed by a meeting to discuss on upcoming membership drive, training programs etc. In this connection, KDCC has requested all the executive members and party workers to attend the same without fail. It also welcomed all interested students, individuals and general public to attend the seminar.

 

Mon to enforce proposed parking lot & traffic regulation

Mon, October 1 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner, Mon, Thavaseelan K, IAS, in an order, stated that on the expiry of 30 days period for submission of claims or objections with regard to the proposed parking lots and traffic regulations within Mon town, it has been informed that the proposed parking lots and traffic regulation within Mon will be enforced with immediate effect. Further, the DC has requested to strictly adhere to the proposed regulations within Mon town in order to maintain smooth flow of traffic.

 

Diethono Nakhro to receive Classic Award 2019

Dimapur, October 1 (MExN): The Classic Club, Kohima will be organizing the Classic Award 2019 presentation ceremony at Hotel Japfü, Kohima on October 2 at 4:00 pm. As per DIPR report, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister, Lhoubeilatuo Kire will grace the occasion as the special guest. Diethono Nakhro will deliver the acceptance speech, and President Classic Club, Neibou Sekhose will give the welcome address.

 

Wokha DPDB meeting postponed

Wokha, October 1 (MExN): Vice/Chairman, DPDB Wokha & Deputy Commissioner, Dr Manazir Jeelani Samoon, IAS has informed all the board members that the monthly DPDB meeting will be held on October 22 at DC’s Conference hall, Wokha at 11:00 am. In this regard all concerned have been requested to take note of the change of date and attend the meeting positively.
