
Special camps for left out eligible voters
Kohima, February 19 (MExN): The Election Commission of India has directed special camps to be organized in all polling stations on February 23 and 24 for enrollment of left out eligible voters in view of the impending General Election to Lok Sabha, 2019. Abhijit Sinha, IAS Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland in a public notice said this was to provide further opportunity in campaign mode to all un-enrolled eligible persons to get their names registered in the electoral rolls during continuous updation period, so that they are not deprived of voting at elections. In all the polling stations, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will remain present in the camps along with the copies of final electoral rolls, 2019 and copies of Form 6, 7, 8, 8A to facilitate filling up forms by interested persons. Electors may visit the special camp at their concerned polling stations to check and verify their names in the electoral roll.
SAYO bans hunting & fishing
Kohima, February 19 (MExN): As per the meeting resolution taken on January 26, Southern Angami Youth Organization (SAYO) has informed the general public that the Organization has imposed ban and restriction of hunting wildlife and fishing in any form/manner within the jurisdiction of Southern Angami Village. Megovilie Kuotsu, President and Zeluosielie Kehie, General Secretary SAYO in a press release stated that violation of the resolution would be strictly dealt with as per the resolution and stringent action would be taken against the defaulter/s by imposing a fine of Rs 5000 and immediate seizure of any weapons/machines/chemicals in their possession.
ZSUN cautions erring officers
Dimapur, February 19 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Students' Union Nagaland (ZSUN) has shown concern over the “irresponsible officers and staffs” of many departments in Peren district who remain absent in the office. A press release appended by its President Asappe Zeliang and General Secretary Francis Newmai said it has been observed most times that officers and staffs are absent, causing undue hardship to the general public. In this regard, the Union has requested the concerned authorities to take proper measures and check irregularities in offices. ZSUN further cautioned them against failing to perform their duties properly, where, they will “take its own course of action for the welfare of the People of Peren district.”
Smart City Advisory Forum meeting
Kohima, February 19 (MExN): In pursuance to the Municipal Affairs Department's Notification No. MA-8/2015 (Pt-II) dated 24th April, 2018 wherein, the Smart City Advisory Forum was re-constituted to advise and enable collaboration amongst the various stake holders of the Smart City Mission, a meeting is convened on February 22, 11:00 am at DC Conference Hall. Kohima, Nagaland. Kovi Meyase, CEO, KSCDL & Convenor, SCAF Kohima in a press release has requested all the members to attend the meeting positively.
AR seizes arms
Dimapur, February 19 (MExN): Dimapur Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) along with a police representative arrested three individuals including a woman in possession of illegal arms and ammunition at Lhomithi, Dimapur on February 18. As per a press release from Lt Colonel L Vincent Patton, PRO, HQ IGAR (N), the operation was conducted based on specific information of extortion activities. The arrested individuals were identified as Livi Achumi, 33 years; Tovika Achumi, 26 years and Yekivi Ayemi, 21 years. The release said one point 22 Pistol, four live rounds of point 22 Pistol and three mobile phones were recovered from their possession. The arrested individuals along with recovered items were handed over to Sub Urban Police Station, Dimapur.
