Import of pigs banned in Kohima district

Kohima, April 30 (MExN): The import of pigs from outside the State into Kohima district jurisdiction has been banned with “immediate effect.” A notification to this effect was issued by DC Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie on April 30 in view of the reported outbreak of the "African Swine Fever" and high mortality of pigs in the neighbouring states, State DIPR reported. The notification further advised the general public not to hunt or consume any wild meat, especially wild boar, Civet etc since there is a strong possibility of the virus being present in such wild animals, it added. 

 

Nagaland Home Department cautions against hunting

Kohima, April 30 (MExN): The State Home Department today ‘strongly advised’ to the general public to refrain from hunting or consume any wild meat, especially wild boar, civet etc. There is a strong possibility of the virus being present in such wild animals, the advisory said. It further directed all the Deputy Commissioners in the districts may to disseminate the advisory to all village councils. The advisory was issued in connection to Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services notification on April 28 imposing a ban on import of pigs throughout the State, in view of the outbreak of African Swine Fever in neighbouring States. 

 

Emergency relief distributed at Mon

Mon, April 30 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner & Chairman, DDMA Mon, Thavaseelan K has informed that a total amount of Rs 15, 16,500 was distributed to the victims affected by recent storm on April 27 at the DC's Conference Hall. The emergency relief fund was allotted to Mon District by the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), a DIPR report said. An amount of 4 lakh each as ex -gratia was handed over to the family members of two people who passed away, while Rs 1, 01,900 was given to a victim with fully damaged house, it said. In addition, a sum of Rs1,01,900 each was given to 6 victims whose houses were severely damaged by the recent storm, it added. A sum of Rs 3,200 was also given to the owner of a partially damaged house.

 

PMGAY launched in Bhandari

Bhandari, April 30 (MExN): The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Bhandari Tiameren Chang launched Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGAY) under Bhandari Block on April 30 in Bhandari town. Speaking at the launch programme the ADC said through this scheme free rice of five kg to each card holders would be given and the distribution would continue for 3 months, a DIPR report informed. He also highlighted on the importance of wearing masks and safe distancing. The ADC also urged the people not to panic but to take precautions, to help each other and fight together. Under Bhandari block, there are 47 villages and 16,300 beneficiaries under the scheme.

 

COVID-19 sensitisation event held in Chantongya

 

Chantongya, April 30 (MExN): A sensitisation programme on coronavirus, initiated by Ao Senden in collaboration with Mokokchung District Task Force on Covid-19, was held on April 29 at Changtongya Town Hall. As per a DIPR report, the programme was chaired by Dr Among, Medical Officer, Community Health Center Changtongya while keynote addresses on Covid-19 and preparedness were delivered by Dr Yanger ZLO and Dr Sunep CVO from Mokokchung respectively. A short speech was delivered by M Zulu Ozukum, President Langpangkong Tsukong Mongdang. The programme was attended by all Village Council Chairman, Pastors, Teachers incharge of both Private and Government Schools under Changtongya Sub-Division, all wards Chairman, Goan Boras and Watsu unit Changtongya Town, it added.

 

NDPP Central Youth distributes food grains

 

Kohima, April 30 (MExN): All ranks and file of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Central Youth Organisation including its regions, A/Cs and Unit Youth Organisation has been continuously reaching out to affected and needy persons during the lockdown period in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic. All expenses towards the cause have been managed in the individual’s capacity. The NDPP Youth Organisation has been distributing food grains, vegetables, rations and relief materials cutting across various districts, according to a release issued by Media &Publicity Cell, NDPP Central Youth Organization.
