TASU asks report from HMs over poor result in HSLC exam

Mon, May 20 (MExN): The Tobu Area Students’ Union (TASU) has expressed “disappointments” to the Head Masters of both the Government High Schools of Tobu and Bumei over the “poor performance” in the recently declared HSLC exams. A press release from TASU president, Sangti Konyak and general secretary, Davidson Ngushu informed that at Government High School Tobu, a total of 10 students appeared the exams out of which only 1 student qualified. At Government High School, Bumei, 21 students appeared the exam, but only 2 students qualified. “The poor performance in the exams is one of the reasons why the enrolment in the government schools is declining and as such, the HMs should play an important role in maintaining strict discipline among the teachers and students,” the students’ union stated. It asked the Head Masters of both the schools to submit a report on the factors that have led to the poor performance of the students in the recent HSLC exam within 15 days to the TASU office. “We are ever ready to lend our helping hand to tackle any issues and challenges that the teachers and staffs are facing while trying to scale up the education system under Tobu sub-division,” TASU reminded.  

SNUNS invites to orientation, felicitation event

Dimapur, May 20 (MExN): South Nagas Union of Nagaland State (SNUNS) has invited successful Class X & XII South Naga students in the recently declared NBSE results, their parents and other interested persons to its orientation cum felicitation function. The event is scheduled to be held on May 22, 11:00 am at AIDA Hall, Dimapur (Don Bosco Complex). Registration of participants will begin at 10:30 am. According to a press release from president SNUNS, Joe Ngamkhuchung, Rev. Fr. Justine MMI of St. Joseph University, Dimapur and Heni Ahrai, Oath Commissioner, Senapati, GoM will be resource persons of the event which will delve on the topic ‘Choice of subjects leading to career options’.  

Lotha Students’ Union Bangalore informs

Bangalore, May 20 (MExN): The Lotha Students’ Union Bangalore (LSUB) has requested all the parents/guardians of the Lothas living in Bangalore to ensure that their children/wards register themselves with their detailed addresses at the LSUB office. In a press release, LSUB president, Shenshimong Ngullie and general secretary, Limhatung Ezung stated that through proper registration, the union will be able to give necessary assistance to its members in times of need and “by which it will be able to build a better recognition/ bonding among the members in the city.” LSUB further informed the parents and guardians to contact its office bearers through the following phone numbers for assistance and also for matters related to admissions in Bangalore: President Shenshimong Ngullie - +919916387706 and General Secretary Limhathung Ezung - +916361569174.  

NSSATA Peren unit criticizes govt’s silence

Peren, May 20 (MExN): The Nagaland SSA Teachers’ Association (NSSATA) Peren unit has criticized the “silence” of the State government towards the three-point demands served to it by the Central NSSATA on April 23. A press release from NSSATA Peren unit president, Huzengluibo and general secretary, Kelidau has appealed to the government to solve the issues of the “genuine” teachers before absorbing the contract, ad-hoc, fixed and backdoor appointees into the State cadre. The unit reminded the authority that “there won't be any so called ‘quality education’ before treating the teachers right.” It further warned to enforce boycotting of classes as per the resolution if there is no concrete solution.
