Invitation for Young Talent Artistes Award Kohima, January 22 (MExN): Applications have been invited for Young Talent Artistes Award for the year 2016 --17 from eligible candidates, talented and skilled in the categories of folk music and songs, folk dance, theatre, creative arts or painting, handicrafts etc. Young talented artistes in the age group of 18 — 30 years (as on March 31, 2017) are eligible to apply for the award. The award consists of Rs. 10,000/- and a citation. Candidates should be an Indian citizen and an indigenous inhabitant of North East India. Paudabo Suzah, Director, Art & Culture, Kohima has informed in a press release that application form may be submitted or sent to the Director, North East Zone Cultural Centre, P.B. No. 98, Dimapur — 797112, Nagaland on or before January 30.   Livestock show in Dimapur Dimapur, January 22 (MExN): The Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Dimapur will organize a livestock show (pigs & poultry) on January 26 coinciding with the Republic Day celebration at the DDSC stadium. Therefore, any interested farmers of Dimapur district have been informed to contact the following numbers: For pig exhibition – 9436605973/ 9436072892; for poultry exhibition – 8974695433/ 9436002353. The categories of exhibits are as follows: Piglets of three months of age, poultry birds (chicken) of Desi variety (local) and LIT varieties (Kuroiler/ Vanaraja/ Gramapriya/ Shitiri etc), according to a press release from Chief Veterinary Office, Dimapur, Dr. Temsu Ozukum. Prizes will be awarded to the best exhibits for the different categories. Interested farmers have been requested to confirm their participation of the exhibits latest by 1:00 pm on January 24.   Nagaland to observe National Girl Day 2017 Kohima, January 22 (MExN): Along with the rest of the country, Nagaland will observe National Girl Child Day 2017 on January 24 at Capital Convention Hall, Kohima from 11:00 am onwards under the theme ‘My Girl Child- My Asset, Not a Liability.’ Chief Minister TR Zeliang will be the chief guest while Minister for Social Security & Welfare and Parliamentary Affairs Kiyanilie Peseyie will be the guest of honour. Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar (IAS) will share state vision for the girl child while SRCW Mission Director Daisy Mezhür will talk on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, status of girl child in the state and gender critical district. Opening remark will be made by Dellirose M. Sakhrie (IAS), Secretary, Social Welfare. The occasion will also witness presentation of bravery award.
