Fisheries Dept impart training Dimapur, April 30 (DIPR): The Department of Fisheries, Govt. of Nagaland led by Chief Executive Officer (FFDA) Dimapur, Dr. Vimezo Kire along with technical staffs imparted training to 25 fish farmers, on culture of Indian major carps and Exotic major carps at Bade Village Panchayat Hall on April 26. The Department also distributed 350 kg of floating fish feed, 450 kg of lime and training manual "Handbook on culture of Indian major carps and Exotic major carps" to the fisher folks of the village. ZSUN biennial conference DIMAPUR, APRIL 30 (MExN): The 22nd Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Nagaland (ZUSN) biennial General Conference will be held on May 11 and 12 at St Xavier College Hall, Jalukie Town under the theme “Confronting our Realities.” Khekaho Assumi, Secretary, Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest and Raitu Chawang, President Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN) will be the Guest of Honour. NSCW legal awareness prog DIMAPUR, APRIL 30 (MExN): The Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) in association with National Commission for Women (Delhi) will be organising a series of one day legal awareness programme on ‘Human Trafficking’ across the state. NSCW informed that the programmes are scheduled at Town Hall, Pughoboto on May 2; Town Hall Zunheboto on May 3; and De Oriental Grande, Kohima on May 5 at 10 AM respectively. NSCW has invited all concerned NGOs, Tribal Hohos, Women Hoho, DGs, GBs, Student Bodies, Church Leaders, Local Police and legal aid services officials to participate in the said programme in its respective jurisdiction. Presidents, All the VCC’s and Secretaries, Head GB’s, Youth Chairman and Secretaries, Students Union Presidents and Secretaries, Women Society Chairperson’s and Secretaries, President and Secretaries Razeba Range Youth Society, Pastor and Catechists and Officers have been requested to attend the meeting positively. 32 AR organises mid day meal prog Dimapur, April 30 (MExN): The 32 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ 6 Sector Assam Rifles, on April 27, organised a mid-day meal programme for children of Ebenezer Orphanage Home, Lengrijan, Dimapur. The event was organized as a goodwill gesture on behalf of Assam Rifles to needy children of Orphanage home and was attended by a total of 27 children and staff, informed an AR press note. The 32 AR further assured of provisioning all possible assistance for development and betterment of children in future, it added. Higher Education Dept bids farewell to Director KOHIMA, APRIL 30 (MExN): The Directorate of Higher Education organised a farewell programme in honour of its outgoing Director, I Alempokba on Saturday, April 29 in the conference hall of the directorate. Speaking on behalf of the officers and staff of the directorate, Menuokholie Kire, Joint Director described him as the most cheerful Head of Department (HoD), understanding, likeable, approachable and a man of style, who has brightened the department in many ways. Expressing that they have enjoyed working together as a family, he said that the valuable and innovative ideas of the outgoing Director will always be cherished. Further congratulating him on successfully completing 35 years of service, he wished the outgoing Director a long and a happy retired life. Parliamentary Secretary for Higher & Technical Education, Deo Nukhu said that the outgoing Director is a younger person but expressed, “we are good friends and I hope that we will continue to be good friends in the near future also.” Meanwhile, the outgoing Director of Higher Education, I. Tiyi College, Wokha; short speech by Ngangshikokba, Principal, Dimapur Government College, and special number by Naga Idol 2009, Topeni Assumi. 9 AR dedicates Bore Well in Zuketsa Town Dimapur, April 30 (MExN): The 9 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ 5 Sector, IGAR (N) constructed and dedicated a Bore Well to the people of Zuketsa, Leshemi and Lasumi of Pfutsero Sub Division on April 25. The Bore Well was inaugurated by Colonel Rajat Tyagi, Commandant, 9 Assam Rifles and Sinokha, Head GB of Zuketsa Town, informed a press note from Lt Col Amitabh Sharma PRO, HQ IGAR (North). In his inaugural speech, Commandant assured that AR will always continue to bring basic amenities at the doorstep of locals in future too, it added. The inauguration was attended by Zuketsa Town Council Chairman, Kevizu and other village members and local populace. 32 AR nabs alleged arms dealer Dimapur, April 30 (MExN): An alleged arms dealer was arrested during a search operation in general area of Veterinary Colony, Burma Camp, Dimapur by security forces on April 26. The operation was launched by 32 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters IGAR (North) alongwith police representatives based on specific information, an AR press note informed. During the search, one Pt 22 mm Pistol with magazine was recovered from an individual identified as Nurul Huk (24 yrs), a resident of Burma Camp, Dimapur District, it said. He revealed that he had been involved in procurement and smuggling of arms, it maintained adding that apprehendee along with the recovered arms and items were handed over to East Police Station, Dimapur for further investigation. New Village Guard Barrack Building at Thoktsor Dimapur, April 30 (DIPR): Parliamentary Secretary for Land Revenue, Village Guard and Women Resources Development L. Khumo inaugurated the New Village Guard Barrack Building at Thoktsor Village on April 28 as chief guest. Speaking on the occasion Khumo said that the present government led by Dr Shürhozelie and TR Zeliang has enabled the people of far flung areas like Thoktsor Village to development. He said that we must be thankful to the government and further called for peace in the society. The program was chaired by W. Muthong VCC. Welcome address was delivered by N.Khupanthong Hd.
