
Nagaland Cong mourns Dimapur, May 5 (MExN): The Nagaland Congress (NLC) has expressed profound shock over the sudden death of Joshua Sumi on May 3. As former President of Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress, he was known to all senior leaders of Nagaland Congress (NLC) as a dynamic, responsible and honest young leader with full of hope and enthusiasm, a condolence message from NLC President Nillo Rengma stated. His unexpected death is a great loss not only to the family and community but to the Naga people in general as late Joshua could have become tomorrow an asset to the Naga society, the message read. “May the bereaved family find solace and strength in the All-knowing God at this time of sorrow and pain. And may his soul rest in eternal rest and peace with God,” it added. One held under NLTP Dimapur, May 5 (MExN): The Excise Mobile Squad Dimapur Special Surveillance Team seized 410 bottles of assorted liquor from Dimapur Town area on May 5. In this connection, one Rajesh Kumar was arrested and booked under relevant sections of the NLTP Act. All the seized articles have been deposited at the Mobile Squad Malkhana, a press release from the Dimapur Superintendent of Excise informed. Aadhaar seeding & DBT meeting held at RD block Chumu Dimapur, May 5 (MExN): A meeting of all VDB secretaries under VDB Association Chumukedima and village council chairmen of villages under RD Block Chumukedima with RD Block officials was held in the office premises of BDO Chumukedima on Thursday last. The meeting was organised by RD office Chumukedima. VDB secretaries and village council chairmen were enlightened on the importance of Aadhaar seeding and Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme. Village functionaries were told that all beneficiaries of MGNREGA should have Aadhaar seeding and DBT account. The village functionaries present at the meeting resolved to complete the process of Aadhaar seeding and DBT account at the earliest for the benefit of the villagers. ANTA Wokha Unit office shifted Wokha, May 5 (MExN): The All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) Wokha Unit has informed that its office has been shifted to Riphyim Baptist Church Building above Gravity WokhaTsumang Colony. Meanwhile, the ANTA Wokha Unit has informed that it will hold an office bearers meeting on May 7, 2:00 pm at ANTA Wokha Unit Office. All office bearers have been requested to attend the meeting without fail. PDTA appeals DC Peren Phek, May 5 (MExN): The Phek District Timber Association (PDTA) has appealed the Deputy Commissioner, Peren to cancel the notification served where vehicles carrying log and timber would not be allowed to ply through Peren District HQ. The association in a press release contended that many families especially in the villages depend on this trade for their livelihood and appealed the authority to reconsider the notification in the interest of the timber trading community. Higher Education Dept commends Science College KOHIMA, May 5 (MExN): Stating that Kohima Science College Jotsoma (Autonomous) is the first government college in Nagaland to have been awarded A Grade with 3.42 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), the officers and staff of the Department of Higher Education have congratulated the college on achieving this commendable feat. In the first cycle, it said the college was awarded 3.05 CGPA during November 2011 and has further lauded Kohima Science College, Jotsoma (Autonomous) for making a great leap in the assessment this year. The Department has also wished the college all the best in its future endeavours.
