Chief Minister wishes Sangtam community Kohima, September 3 (MExN): Chief Minister TR Zeliang has extended warm greetings to the Sangtam community on the occasion of Mongmong festival, which is celebrated during the first week of September every year, each day having its own traditional values and rituals. As the community celebrates the festival with great pomp and gaiety, Zeliang wished, the festival may strengthen peace, unity and brotherhood not only within the Sangtam community but the Nagas in general. Stating that the Sangtams are “hard working, sincere and peace loving people,” Zeliang further hoped that the festival will renew and enhance their outstanding qualities. Governor conveys Onam greetings Kohima, September 3 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, PB Acharya has conveyed greetings on the occasion of Onam, the harvest festival of Kerala, to the people of Nagaland, particularly the Malayalee community. In a message, the Governor said Onam, the thanksgiving festival of the harvest season, is celebrated with traditional gaiety and enthusiasm. The mood of rejoicing is vividly captured in the rituals and festivities associated with the festival, transcending all barriers and uniting all in a common brotherhood, he added. “May this Festival usher in the true spirit of unity, harmony and prosperity in the Society,” Acharya wished. KSC Jotsoma fresher’s social Kohima, September 3 (MExN): The 56th fresher’s social-cum-teacher’s day of Kohima Science College (Autonomous), Jotsoma will take place on September 5 at the college auditorium from 10:00 am onwards. Khekiye.K. Sema, IAS (Retd), advisor ACAUT will grace the occasion as the guest speaker. Vikesano Tunyü will deliver Teachers’ Day speech. Purkhayastha, former HoD, Department of Physics and Megoneitso, former HoD, Department of Botany will also exhort the gathering. The function will be chaired by Dr. Vizovol Mekhro, Associate Professor, Department of Geology, while welcome address will be delivered by K. Puthenhenmei, general secretary KSCSU. The occasion will also be marked by Mr and Miss Fresher contest, fresher’s social feast, drama, skit, solo etc. Gorkha orgs to organise Teacher’s Day celebration Kohima, September 3 (MExN): Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima (GPPK) has informed all the members of the Gorkha community that the GPPK in association with all the Gorkha NGOs will be celebrating Teacher’s Day 2017 at Gorkha Public Panchayat Complex, opposite Government Printing Press, Chandmari on September 5 at 4:00 pm. All the serving and retired Gorkha teachers have been invited to attend the programme.
