Acharya urges to participate in ‘Skill India’ campaign Kohima, July 17 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya has appealed to all the people of Nagaland to participate in the ‘Skill India’ campaign initiated by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.   In his World Youth Skills Day message, Acharya said India is inching towards providing vocational training to youth of the country, making them learn skills, which will make them proud to stand on their own feet.  “The year 2015-16 has been quite remarkable for India as over 1.04 crore youth were trained under various initiatives of 'Skill India', marking 36.8% growth compared to the year before,” he said.   The Governor further said that Central Government also regards skill development as a national priority through concentrated efforts and more awareness and centres. The Central Government has created a separate Ministry for Skills, Vocational Training and Livelihoods as an important means of nation-building to the forefront, the release added.   Apart from the government, Acharya said, many private institutions have been training the youth and imparting various skills. Many have also set up centres and colleges to generate employment and trained youth jobs. It was also pointed out that Government of India has allocated an amount of Rs 12,000 crore outlay for Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) to impart skills to 1 crore people over the next four years  (2016-2020). PMKVY will impart fresh training to 60 lakh youth and certify 40 lakh people who have acquired skills non-formally under the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).   Governor lauds ACAUT, Dimapur administration Kohima, July 17 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya has lauded the ACAUT Nagaland and Dimapur district administration for unearthing the illegal network of petrol adulteration units at several places in Dimapur and Chumukedima. In a press release, the Governor expressed pleasure at discovering the racket. Meanwhile, Acharya in a separate press note expressed shock and pain at the unfortunate accident of President Pranab Mukherjee’s escort vehicle enroute to Bagdogra on July 15.
