CM flags off eight vehicles of SDRF Kohima, August 16 (DIPR): Chief Minister T.R. Zeliang flagged off the State Disaster Response Force Rescue (SDRF) Vehicles on the occasion of the 70th Independence Day celebrations at Secretariat Plaza Kohima today, August 15. The eight vehicles will be put into the service of the people of the State. The Government of Nagaland is committed in its efforts to continually augment its disaster response capabilities and the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority is providing eight customized rescue operation vehicles which would be placed at strategic locations in the State and would be used for recovery and rescue operation during an emergency and also for the creating awareness on disaster response in the villages.   DPC visits Spastic Society on I-Day DIMAPUR, AUGUST 16 (MExN): The Dimapur Press Club visited the Spastic Society of St. Mary’s Montessori and Higher Secondary School (SMMHS), Dimapur to commemorate August 15. Commemorating the 70th Independence Day, the DPC members handed away gifts to the society, which currently has 29 students and 2 teachers. In a close knit programme, the students presented dance item choreographed to the tune of the patriotic ‘Vande Mataram’ and a musical dance.  Principal of SMMHS, Neena Dutta said that the existing Spastic Society was a dream of her late husband, who envisioned to providing equal learning space to the differently-abled children.   DPC President, Moa Longkumer and former DPC General Secretary, Paudi Rentta spoke on behalf of the DPC.     25 years of Mangkolemba ADC Hq Mokokchung, August 16 (MExN): To commemorate the 25 years of Mangkolemba ADC Headquarter establishment, Parliamentary Secretary for NRE, Toyang Changkong Chang inaugurated the first ever exhibition cum sale stalls displayed by Co-Operative Societies, Agri, Medical and Rural Development department during the celebration of the 70th Independence Day at Mangkolemba. Dibuia, MPCS Ltd, Ever green MPCS Ltd & Mangkolemba MPCS Ltd under Co-Operative department, RD Block Tsurangkong, Longchem & Mangkolemba under RD Department and Agri Department displayed local products and handicrafts and first aid assistant under Medical Department was put up during the celebration  at Kumpani ground,  Mangkolemba.   Naga Council visits HK Hospital Dimapur, August 16 (MExN): Naga Council visited HK Hospital (Multispecialty Centre) in Chumukedima Town as part of 70th Independence Day celebration on August 15. The executive of Naga Council led by President T Bangerloba visited both the male and female wards and interacted with the patients, doctors, and nurses of the hospital. The Council also distributed some relief to all the inpatients.   NPF youth wing visits old age home Dimapur, August 16 (MExN): As part of the Independence Day celebration, NPF youth wing, Dimapur division office bearers visited Tribal Old Age Care Centre on August 15 and gifted food and household items to the centre besides interacting with the inmates of the centre.  Phyebemo Odyuo, President, NPF youth wing, Dimapur division requested the members of the centre to remember NPF youth wing in their prayers. Vice presidents Mezhulhou Koza and Khesheto Kiho also spoke, encouraging the members of the centre that they are respected and loved by all.   OCM donate gift hampers to jail inmates Mokokchung, August 16 (DIPR): The Officers Club of Mokokchung (OCM) on the occasion of the 70th India’s Independence Day interacted with the Mokokchung district Jail inmates and donated gift hampers consisting of personalized items to each jail inmates besides water filter and sports goods. The members emphasized on the inmates to come out clean and become assets for their own society and prove themselves worthy of leading a good life.   Sainik School cadets called to imbibe patriotic spirit Peren, August 16 (MExN): Sainik School Punglwa, Nagaland celebrated the 70th Independence Day in the school campus with Gp Capt Sanjay Gaekwad, Principal, as the chief guest. The celebration witnessed speeches by cadets on the contributions of freedom fighters. The chief guest exhorted that “we must not forget the selfless contributions of our freedom fighters,” while urging to contribute to peace and prosperity of the nation. He also called upon the cadets to imbibe the spirit of patriotism and values of the freedom fighters and live up to their expectation in their daily call of duties. An interactive session was also part of the celebration.   I-Day at Nagaland House, New Delhi   New Delhi, August 16 (MExN): Staff of Nagaland House, New Delhi celebrated Independence Day at Nagaland House, New Delhi with Principal Resident Commissioner (PRC) of Nagaland House, Jyoti Kalash, hoisting the National Flag. The PRC stated that Nagaland also participated and contributed towards the freedom struggle, adding it is a day to remember the great leaders because of whom India became a Sovereign and Independent Nation. The function was attended by officers in Nagaland House and also Nagaland House staff, children and visiting guests from the state.
