Contraband destroyed in Phek Phek, September 8 (DIPR): Seized IMFL and other contraband were destroyed in Phek on September 3 in the presence of District & Session Judge N. Lonshithung Ezung (1st Class Magistrate), Government officials, security personnel, NGO and student leaders. The destroyed items consisted of various kinds of liquor in huge quantity, I71 bottles of cough syrup, and 180 kg of ganja. Ex-Servicemen Rally at Wokha Kohima, September 8 (MExN): The Headquarters 44 Mountain Brigade is conducting an Ex-servicemen Rally on September 19 at 28 Assam Rifles Ground, Wokha for all Ex-servicemen of Wokha District. A press release from the PRO (Defence) has informed all ex-servicemen and widows of Wokha District to attend the rally with a copy of their PPO and Bank Passbook. The main emphasis of the Rally is to resolve all pension related issues, preparation of CSD/ECHS Cards and allied grievances, the release stated. Combined Teachers’ Day celebration in Tseminyu Tseminyu, September 8 (MExN): Rengma Students' Union (RSU) in collaboration with the Sub- Divisional Education Office (SDEO), Tseminyu organised combined Teachers’ Day celebration on September 5 at Tseminyu Town Hall. Speaker of Naga Students’ Federation, Joshua Thong Seb was the chief guest. About 30 teachers from both private and government schools and about 400 students attended the event. Zunheboto DPDB deliberates on road maintenance Zunheboto, September 8 (DIPR): The monthly Zunheboto District Planning and Development Board meeting was held on September 8 at DC Conference under the chairmanship of DC and Vice- Chairman, T. Roy, IAS. At the meeting, the board approved the bifurcation/creation of RD Block at Aghunato/Tokiye sub-division, creation of Town Council/ Urban Station Committee at Satakha Town and grant-in-aid to Woodland Hr Sec School. The board members also discussed the dilapidated road conditions where various departments volunteered to repair and maintain the roads within Zunheboto town. The board also decided to write to PWD (NH) for maintenance of road from Satakha to Akuluto town.The Board acknowledged the contribution of ZTSBC and8thNAP in maintenance of roads and the District Hospital and also discussed on the renovation of DC Conference Hall whereby members also put their inputs and decided to take the approval of Chairman DPDB. BJP Wokha Members question district president’s selection Wokha, September 8 (MExN): State Council Member of 37th, 39th and 40th counstituencies has termed the selection of the BJP Wokha District President as “null and void”.The council members in a press release stating that it ‘seriously views’ the ongoing BJP Wokha Unit maintained that the selection of the BJP District President L. Meribemo Kinghen was done without their knowledge. “Therefore, we assume L. Meribemo Kinghen as 38th BJP Mandal President and not as District President,” the press release from Chumbemo Odyuo, Achum Jami and Tsenthungo Kikon – Council Members from the 37th, 39th and 40th A/C respectively – stated. In this regard, the members have invited State Office Bearers to intervene in the ongoing issue and settle it amicably. Questioning why the President’s selection was done without their knowledge, the Council Members of the three constituencies maintained that the press release from the “self style adhoc President” informing the mandals to submit detailed list of office bearers is “null and void” and further stated that it views the press release “as a threat”.
