Dimapur railway parcel office unsealed

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 6 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Rajesh Soundararajan,  has ordered unsealing of the Railway parcel section office, Dimapur on August 6. This has been done in view of the office being sanitized and all precautionary measures being taken as per government guidelines, informed an order from the DC. 

Wokha DC orders unsealing of house

WOKHA, AUGUST 6 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner & Chairman District Task Force for COVID-19, Wokha, Orenthung Lotha has ordered disinfection and thereafter unsealing of a house (GB House NO-66) at PWD colony, Wokha. A report from the DIPR informed that this was done as occupants of the house tested Negative by TrueNat testing machine. The occupants of the building have also been directed to undergo 14 days mandatory home quarantine strictly following all guidelines/ directives and Standard Operating procedure (SOPs) issued by the Government.

Unidentified body found

Dimapur, August 6 (MExN): An unidentified body of a male (50 years approx) was found near Hovukhu Village, under Niuland Division, Dimapur on August 6. The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police/PRO informed in a press release that the dead body was shifted to District hospital morgue for COVID-19 test and post-mortem examination and identification after conducting all legal formalities. Claimant for the dead body or relatives and friends are requested to contact Sub-Urban Police Station, Officer-in-Charge, the release added.

Security forces apprehend Yung Aung led NSCN (K) cadre 

Dimapur, August 6 (MExN): A cadre of the Yung Aung led NSCN (K) was apprehended near Dhobinala, Dimapur, by security forces on August 2. Based on specific intelligence regarding presence of UG cadre in the area, the security forces along with Police representative launched an operation and apprehended the individual, an official defence release stated. The troops also recovered four fired cases of ammunition, extortion slips, letter pads of NSCN/GPRN (K-YA) and other incriminating material, it stated. The apprehended person along with the recovered items has been handed over to West Police Station, Dimapur for further investigation. 

Peren NPF Committee on COVID-19 apprises on scenario in district

JALUKIE, August 6 (MExN): The NPF Charity Mission Committee COVID-19, Peren Division, on Wednesday called on the government to provide need based healthcare facilities and infrastructure improvement in the district to battle the COVID-19 pandemic. A press release from the committee’s Member Secretary apprised of the COVID-19 response scenario in the district and claimed that a High Power Committee team visited Peren on July 9 following incidences of alleged “management failure,” public outrage and protest. It said that the visiting committee had “given an assurance to set up a Technical Committee,” but it had not materialized yet. Further quoting the District Surveillance Officer, the release stated that shortage of vehicles for emergency duty, shortage of manpower and TrueNat testing kit/cartridge were urgent requirements in the district. It also appealed the public to cooperate and follow all standard operating procedures to tackle the COVID-19 Pandemic in Peren district. It meanwhile requested the government of the day to come up with recovery remedies for the economy as well as welfare of students and to extend equal importance to every nook and corner of the state. 

TASU, KU Tobu Branch condemn killing

Mon, August 6 (MExN):  The Konyak Union Branch Tobu and Tobu Area Students’ Union (TASU) condemned the killing of Mulong Chang, Region Secretary of GPRN/NSCN (Khango) allegedly by cadres of the same political group at Tuensang on August 4.  Citing the ENPO declaration of December 12, 2007 which declared the jurisdiction as “peace zone,” a joint statement from the organizations appealed the political groups to respect the efforts of the organisations in maintaining peace in the jurisdiction. “At this hour of pandemic when the communities across the state are in panic, such act of anti-peace movement by any individual/political groups remain a horrific and despicable act of cruelty and will only worsen the situation of the civilians,” the statement read. It further demanded the law enforcing agency to immediately book the perpetrators under relevant sections of the law, while expressing condolences to the bereaved family members and loved ones.

2 apprehended with IMFL in Longmisa 

Mokokchung, August 6 (MExN):  Assam Rifles  (AR) personnel seized IMFL in general area Longmisa Junction, Mokokchung on August 3. An official press release from the AR stated that based on specific intelligence regarding illegal activities, troops of Assam Rifles along with police representative established a Mobile Vehicle Check Post at general area Longmisa junction and intercepted Mahindra Bolero carrying 99 cases of Mc Dowells Rum amounting to Rs 4,00,000. Two individuals namely Imlisunep and Zulutemjen were apprehended and handed over to Mokokchung Police Station-1 along with seized liquor for further investigation.
