NSCN (R) greets on Tsüngremong 

Dimapur, August 1 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN (Reformation) has conveyed festival greetings on the occasion of Tsüngremong of the Ao Nagas, which is observed during the first week of August. “Tsüngremong is a pre-harvest festival, marking the end of rigorous plantation. Dressed in their colourful traditional attire, young boys and girls are seen making merry, dancing to the tunes of traditional songs and playing games. The festival is celebrated just before the harvest so as to invoke the blessing of God for a fruitful and bountiful harvest,” the MIP of NSCN (R) stated in its greetings. It also stated that the Ao Nagas is one of the advanced communities among Nagas tribes who excels and leads in many fields, and added, “May this festival also foster a spirit of unity and peace amongst the Nagas.”

NSF senior’s consultative meeting

Kohima, August 1 (MExN): The Naga Students Federation (NSF) has informed that a senior’s consultative meeting is scheduled at the Conference hall of Hotel Japfü, Kohima at 12:00 noon on August 4 (Wednesday) to discuss “certain pressing issues confronting the Federation.” All seniors of the federation are invited to be a part of the meeting and present their thoughts in the interest of the federation in particular and the welfare of the Naga people at large. This is pursuant to the unanimous resolution adopted at the 2nd official meeting of the NSF 2021-23 held on July 30 at NSF Oking on the NSF Platinum Jubilee agenda, informed a press release issued by NSF, President, Kegwayhun Tep. Therefore, all the seniors of the federation are requested to make themselves convenient to attend the meeting positively. 

NIPF welcomes agreement signed between Assam-Nagaland

Dimapur, August 1 (MExN): The Nagaland Indigenous People’s Forum (NIPF) on Sunday stated the agreement signed between Assam and Nagaland Government on July 31 in Dimapur “is a milestone achievement for both the states towards restoring and maintaining peace and harmony” and particularly for the people living in the border regions of the Tsurangkong valley. The agreement was signed by the Chief Secretaries of Nagaland and Assam in the presence of Y Patton, Deputy Chief Minister Nagaland and Ranoj Pegu, Minister, Assam. “It is the desire of NIPF that unnecessary tension in the border areas of the neighbouring states should be avoided with regular meetings of both the parties,” NIPF Media Cell stated in its press release.
