FGN condemns arrest of cadres 

Kohima, October 7 (MExN): Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has condemned the arrest of five cadres at Purana Bazar Dimapur by 5th Assam Rifle Battalion on October 1. The FGN on Thursday clarified that ‘the five arrested cadres have been authorized by the Government to halt the selling of alcohol/liquor and not to extort money from the business community.’ According to the statement published on October 6 in local dailies, a seizure of cash amounting to Rs 20,000 belonging to Bokato Sumi, a public who is a shop owner and “not seized from the cadre’s possession.” FGN expressed concern that instead of cooperate with them, the 5th Assam Rifle “for their own ranking benefits has given false allegations to the arrested cadres of the Federal Government.”

Illegally cigarettes worth Rs 1.5 cr seized 

Kohima, October 7 (MExN): Kohima Police manning Khuzama interstate check gate on October 6 intercepted one truck bearing registration number NL02Q-4744 which was proceeding towards Dimapur from Manipur. The police recovered 95 cartons of illegally imported foreign cigarettes estimated to be worth Rs 1.5 crore, PRO DEF, Kohima informed in a press release. In this connection two persons namely Mofidul Islam (22) and Fojlul Hoque (22) were arrested and the contraband along with the vehicle were seized. Accordingly a case under COTPA 2003 has been registered at Khuzama PS for further investigation. 

70th Marty’s Day of Naga Nation

Dimapur, October 7 (MExN): The Naga National Council (NNC) and the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) at Central level along with Angami Region will observe the 70th Marty’s Day of the Naga Nation on October 18 at 10: 00 am in Transit Peace Camp (TPC), Kohima. Therefore, FGN Secretary, Thihü Khamo in a press release has requested all the concerned authorities and high ranking Naga Army officers of the NNC/FGN to participate in the function. Also all Midan Peyus, FGN and Regional Presidents, NNC are directed to observe the 70th Martyr’s Day of the Nation in their respective regions, sub-regions and villages.
