Nagaland: News in brief 11 August 2021

The Public Health Engineering Department, Nagaland has declared August 2021 as ‘Water Quality Testing Month’ during which Chemical and Bacteriological tests will be carried out in all the Districts using Field Testing Kits (FTKs) and H2S vials at sources and MR/Delivery points. The testing will cover 1500 villages including Schools and Angawadi Centres across the state which is already in progress.

National Tobacco Control programme, Dimapur held the launching programme of ‘Smoke-Free District Headquarters campaign’ on August 10. The campaign was launched by Commissioner of Police Dimapur, Rothihu Tetseo, with officials from Health & Family welfare Department and police officers from different stations at conference Hall of the Commissioner of Police’s office, Dimapur. The program was chaired by psychologist NTCP, Imkumla Aier, and vote of thanks was given by Dy. Sp MTO and Team leader of District Anti-Tobacco squad, William Kath. (DIPR Photo) 

Western Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Küqhakulu (WSBAK) organized an inaugural programme of Rev Dr Luhoi Jakha Baptistery at WSBAK Centre, Aküvüto, Thahekhu on August 11. Rev Dr Luhoi Jakha dedicated the Baptistery by unveiling the Inaugural stone of the Baptistery. Rev Dr Luhoi Jakha (102 years old)  is one of the pioneers among the Sümi Christian leaders who has served under WSBAK as Corresponding Secretary (1965 – 1971/ 1973 – 1978), Field Supervisor (1979 – 1980), WSBAK missionary and served under WSBAK in various capacities. Yimkhiung Baptist Borü Amukhungto (YBBA) Mission Centre building was formally inaugurated by Chairman, Nagaland Bio-Resources, Thronghokiu on August 10. Thronghokiu spoke on his association with YBBA as a youth, taking part in various programmes. Mission Secretary YBBA, Khalenmew chaired the programme while welcome note and keynote address was delivered by Dr SJ Akhum, Pastor and President Yimkhiung Baptist Borü Amukhungto (Yimkhiung Baptist Church Council), Rev B Hankiu delivered the dedicatory prayer.
