Nagaland SDG Vision 2030 launch on August 17

Kohima, August 11 (MExN): The Sustainable Development Goals coordination Centre (SDGCC) under Planning & Coordination Department will be organizing a programme to launch the ‘Nagaland SDG VISION 2030’ Document and ‘District SDG Localisation and Integration Manual’ on August 17 at the Capital Convention Centre, Kohima, at 10:00 am. A State-level workshop on SDG India Index 2020-21 and Multidimensional Poverty Index will also be conducted by officials from NITI Aayog for representatives of the various State Departments.

Om Prakash Sethi re-elected as President of Jain Samaj 

Dimapur, August 11 (MExN): Om Prakash Sethi has been re-elected as President of the Jain Samaj. Shri Digamber Jain Samaj has elected its new executive body for the tenure 2021-24. Total of 31 executive members out of 53 were elected through electoral Process which was held on August 1 under Sanjay Kashliwal (Synergy) as Election Commissioner and its team members. A press release stated that during the last tenure of Om Prakash Sethi as a president has brought lots of changes and development for the Samaj. Under his leadership Jain Charitable Hospital, Jain Bhawan, Jain Girls College, Jain HSS, Mahavir Bhawan were renovated and various new facilities were also added to the branches. 

Man run over by truck in Dimapur 

Dimapur, August 11 (MExN): An unidentified man, presumably a non-Naga, was run over by a truck at the Railway siding area, Dimapur on August 10, the Dimapur Police informed on Wednesday.  According to a press release from the Addl Dy Commissioner of Police (Crime) and PRO, the deceased who was approximately 35 years of age, was wearing jean pant with black color vest at the time of the incident. On completion of all legal formalities, the dead body was shifted to District Hospital Dimapur for post mortem examination /identification. Claimant/relatives/friends of the deceased have been requested to contact the Officer-in-Charge, GRPS, Dimapur.

GPRN/NSCN informs members

Dimapur, August 11 (MExN): The Organising Committee of 75th Naga Independence Day programme of the GPRN/NSCN has invited all its members to take part in the celebration at the Council Headquarters (CHQ), Khehoyi Designated Camp, at 9:00 am on August 14. Informing that the event will take place in adherence with all the COVID-19 SOP guidelines, the GPRN/NSCN through its MIP requested all attendees to maintain and follow appropriate physical distance and SOP guidelines.

Dimapur police arrests 4 in separate incidents

Dimapur, August 11 (MExN): Dimapur Police on Wednesday arrested three persons on multiple charges of kidnapping and robbery. According to a press release from the Addl Dy Commissioner of Police & PRO, the three persons, identified as Kavito Chishi (37); Mughato (22) Razoupeyu NSCN-IM, and Vinoka Zhimo (32) Pvt GPRN/NSCN, had been evading arrest in a previous case registered in East Police Station, Dimapur, for kidnapping labour contractors in which three persons were arrested initially. In another incident on August 10, the Dimapur Police Special Branch arrested one Asukha Achumi (37) on charges of extorting money from trucks near FCI godown, Dimapur. Various tax slips of NNC yearly vehicle tax, Truck owners association along with Rs 3,000 cash and one scooty were also seized from his possession, the PRO informed. A case has been registered in SBN Police Station, Dimapur, it added.

GPRN/NSCN terminates 2 from active service

Dimapur, August 11 (MExN): The office of GSO-I (Admin), General Headquarters, Naga Army, GPRN/NSCN in accordance with the code of conduct and ethics of the Naga Army issued a ‘Force Discharge’ order on two Naga Army cadres. According to a press release issued through its MIP, one of the cadres was Major Lapong, A/No. 13534, of Mimi village, Yimchunger Region was discharged “on account of breach of Naga Army Disciplinary Code by neglecting and absconding from government duties for several years without any official leave sanction.” The other cadre Lieutenant Ghotoi, A/No. 19428, of Rotomi village, Sumi Region was discharged “on account of Anti-national activity and breach of Naga Army Disciplinary Code by mingling and associating with the adversaries (Indian security forces) for several years.” Henceforth, the above mentioned cadres are terminated from active service of Naga Army and their membership in the Naga Army, GPRN/NSCN shall cease to be validated and effectively bear no liability, the release stated.
