DC Kohima appeals churches to put up festive lights

Kohima, November 12 (MExN): In pursuance to the impending festive season, Deputy Commissioner Kohima Gregory Thejawelie has appealed all churches within Kohima district to clean, beautify, decorate and put up festive lights by November 25. The appealed has been made so that all festive decors are on display by the aforementioned date, a DIPR report informed.


Nagaland Dobashis Association executive meeting on Nov 19

Kohima, November 12 (MExN): The President Nagaland Dobashis Association has convened an executive meeting on November 19 at 11:00 am in the conference hall of Dobashis Kohima to discuss on matters relating to forth coming General Conference and to highlight on the activities undertaken by the Association. In this regard, the executive members/PA to DCs of all districts have been asked to attend the meeting without fail. Office bearers of the Association have also been requested to reach Kohima by noon of November 18.


NDPP 11th NA II A/C condemns

Dimapur, November 12 (MExN): The NDPP 11th NA II A/C condemned the October 29 raid on the residence of Roko Angami conducted by the 1st Assam Rifles. “As a prominent leader and a sportsman from our constituency, who hold high reputation , such person are not spared by so called friends of the hills people,” the NDPP 11th NA II A/C stated in a press release on Friday. Stating that such acts create fear psychosis in the mind of the people, the NDPP 11th NA II A/C strongly condemned the same and asserted that such act should never be repeated in future.


NFHRCC consultative meeting today

Dimapur, November 12 (MExN): The NFHRCC is convening a consultative meeting on November 13 at 1:00 pm at the Committee’s base office in Kher Mahal Dimapur. In this regard, all members have been requested to attend the meeting without fail.


NSCN (R) greets Sumi community

Dimapur, November 12 (MExN): The NSCN (R) on Friday conveyed greetings on the occasion of Ahuna festival of the 'Sumi' Nagas, which is observed on November 14, coinciding with Children's Day. “Ahuna is a post harvest festival for offering thanksgiving and gratitude for the bountiful year and at the same time to also invoke blessings for the coming year. The festival is observed with exuberant cultural activities and also with songs and dances, followed by feasting and merry making,” the NSCN (R) stated in a press release issued by its MIP. “With this 'Ahuna' festival may our Sumi brothers and sisters continue to prosper and also be the guiding force in strength, unity and social bonding among our big Naga family,” the release added.


APO congratulates Dr SC Jamir

Kohima, November 12 (MExN): The Angami Public Organisation (APO) on Friday congratulated nonagenarian Dr SC Jamir, on being awarded Padma Bhushan- the third highest civilian award by the government of India. The APO stated that it was a proud moment for all the Nagas to celebrate and rejoice with him in recognition of his lifetime service rendered to the State of Nagaland as well as the country. The Organisation commended Dr Jamir for raising and exposing the name of the Nagas, which it said, would continue to inspire and instill confidence in the younger generation to live and strive to achieve similar feat. May his message to the Nagas to “Stand for the truth in order to progress” continue to inspire the Nagas, the APO stated while invoking God’s blessings on Dr Jamir for good health and long life.
