Lotha Hoho appeals for peace

Dimapur, February 26 (MExN): The Lotha Hoho has expressed deep anguish over alleged violent attacks on two of its members, Nrithung Humtsoe, LH Executive Member, and Y Bankathung Lotha, Treasurer of the Lotha Hoho Building Committee. According to a press release received here on Sunday, Humtsoe was attacked at his residence in Wokha town on February 22, and his house was vandalized. The following day, a similar incident took place at Lotha's private residence in Longsa village. Lotha Hoho Chairman Er Mhondamo Ovung and General Secretary S Abenthung Ngullie strongly condemned the violence against their members and appealed to all concerned to maintain peace and order in the region, especially with the upcoming elections.

UAVU & UAVYO condemn ‘attack’ on husband and wife

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 26 (MExN): The Urra Area Villages Union (UAVU) and Urra Area Villages Youth Organisation (UAVYO) have condemned “the attack” on Shanti Pradhan and her husband Ajay Pradhan of Singrijan on February 25 at her residence. “According to reliable sources, around 30 unknown youths entered her house forcefully and physically assaulted her and her husband. The miscreants also destroyed household items and took away two mobile phones belonging to Shanti Pradhan and her husband,” a joint statement from the two organizations stated. The UAVU and UAVYO condemned the attack and demanded the concerned authority to apprehend the perpetrators of the crime and bring them to justice immediately.

NDPP hopes ‘democracy is upheld’

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 26 (MExN): The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has called upon all citizens of the State to come forward and exercise their universal adult franchise on February 27 and ensure that “democracy is once again upheld.” A press release from the NDPP media and communication committee further appealed to one and all to adhere to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and ensure that polls are conducted in a free and fair manner and avoid resorting to violence and unscrupulous and illegal ways and means. “While wishing all the candidates and political parties the very best, it is the prayer of the NDPP that democracy shall once again be victorious in Nagaland,” the press release stated.
