
MTLT condemns domestic violence incident in Mokokchung
Mokokchung, July 28 (MExN): The Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT) has expressed shock over the assault of a woman by her husband at Dilong Ward in Mokokchung town on June 16.
The Union in a condemnation note stated that the way the helpless woman was treated by her husband, one Tiatemsu of Ungma village who tortured and struck his wife with firewood and other blunt objects is beyond human comprehension.
“Such sadistic acts and sadists do not deserve to roam free in a civilized society,” MTLT stated while adding that it does not condone any act of domestic violence and strongly condemns the brutal act of Tiatemsu in the strongest term.
Meanwhile, MTLT has appreciated the Mokokchung Police for taking prompt action in arresting and booking the culprit under relevant sections of the law. “It is our hope that the law will take its own course of action and the culprit be punished in the sternest manner so that such brutal acts of domestic violence do not recur in the society,” it added.
More condole demise of late Ghokheli
Kohima, July 28 (MExN): Nagaland’s Higher & Technical Education and Tribal Affairs Minister Temjen Imna Along mourned the demise of Ghokheli Aye, mother of Kaito Aye, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperation, who passed away on July 23 last. “Losing a mother is never easy; the pain of losing a loving mother is intense and heartbreaking. Yet, the rich legacy she has left behind, shall continue to shine through her children whom she has brought up with so much love and care,” the Along stated. He also conveyed deepest condolence to the grieving family, and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
Further, the Phek District Co-operative Societies Union (PDCSU) also mourned the demise of Ghokheli. Kekhwengulo Lea, president, PDCSU in a condolence message, expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
MPK condemns assault on LPG truck drivers
Kohima, July 28 (MExN): The Merhulietsa Panchayat Kohima vehemently condemns the criminal assault and robbing the mobile phones of the drivers of the LPG truck near Belho Gas Service godown, National Highway by Medophretuo Medeo of Khulazu Bawe Village, Pipenthong Humtsoe of Pongitong village, Wokha and Seyievilhou Phesao of Chozuba Village. The three accused were apprehended by the police with the assistance of the Merhulietsa Youth Organization, according to a release received here today.
DMC informs on waste disposal
Dimapur, July 28 (MExN): The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has instructed the public under its jurisdiction “not to throw used masks, gloves or PPE kits in public places or mix with other waste.” DMC Administrator, Albert Ezung in a notice stated that the said wastes are to be discarded and collected in separate bags and dispose only at the lime of door-to-door collection of waste by the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) or incinerate it safely. Traders are also asked not to throw the same within their business premises but to dispose it off as mentioned above.
Midland Panchayat informs
Kohima, July 28 (MExN): The Midland Panchayat and Midland Youth Organisation have directed all individuals and families who are under home quarantine to strictly follow the government SOPs. The two bodies in an order stated that “such individual/family if defy the SOP laid down will be dealt by the colony and stringent action will be applied upon them.” Therefore, all concerned are directed to take this order as final and binding.”
ZAPO greets on Selunye Festival
Kohima, July 28 (MExN): Zuketsa Area Public Organisation (ZAPO) has extended Selunye Festival (July 28-29) greetings to Chakhesang community in general and Kuzhami in particular. This festival is celebrated as a sign of joy and happiness for completion of paddy plantation and hence people feast to stay mentally and physically relaxed. During this festival, children offer meat and wine to their grandparents out of respect and reverence for them and also seek blessings from them. ZAPO in a message wished good health to everyone during COVID-19 pandemic and prayed that “May you all celebrate joyful Selunye Festival at home with your family and loved ones and maintain social distancing.” ZAPO also appealed to continue praying to Almighty God for His healing on COVID-19 pandemic.
Colony Sanitation Committee in Dimapur
Dimapur, July 28 (MExN): A meeting comprising DC Dimapur, Anoop Khinchi, DMC, Administrator, Albert Ezung and all the colony chairman and GBs within Dimapur Municipal Council was held at Lotha Hoho Ki, Dimapur on July 25. During the meeting, the house decided to form a 'Colony Sanitation Committee' to streamline and assist DMC in sanitation work. DC who chaired the meeting while addressing the gathering stressed on proper disposal of used masks, gloves and PPE kits and importance of proper hygiene, social distancing and co-operation of all to be able to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
