Achumbemo Kikon convenes Introductory Meeting

Kohima, April 23 (MExN): MLA and the Chairperson of the Committee on Environment and Climate Change, Achumbemo Kikon has convened its Introductory Meeting on April 24 at 11:00 A.M in the C. Chongshen Committee Room of the Assembly Secretariat, Kohima. All the Committee Members have been requested to make it convenient to attend the meeting.

 

Unidentified body recovered in Dimapur

Dimapur, April 23 (MExN): Dimapur Police recovered the body of an unidentified non-local male, aged around 20-25 years, from the footpath opposite KL Sethi Market, GS Road, near the Cigarette Company on April 22. A press release informed that the Sub-Urban Police Station received information at around 6:40 am, following which a police team rushed to the spot and discovered the body. The inquest was conducted at the site and no foul play was detected, the release said, adding that the deceased, reportedly a homeless, is suspected to have died of starvation. The body, found wrapped in a red and black bedsheet, was shifted to the District Hospital morgue for post-mortem and identification, it added. Relatives, acquaintances or claimants have been asked to contact the Officer-in-Charge, Sub-Urban Police Station at 7085055026 for details.

 

DWO Phek informs beneficiaries under NSAP

Phek, April 23 (MExN): The office of the District Welfare Officer, Phek has informed the beneficiaries under National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) Old Age, Widow & Disability are asked to submit Xerox copy of bank account pass book (front page), Aadhaar and contact details only for those who has received cash payment during last payment 2023-24. The beneficiaries are requested to submit the said document from May 1-9, 2025 during office hour. Failing to comply with the circular, the department will not be held responsible for any action thereof.

 

Nagaland revises GPF, CPF, AISPF interest rates

KOHIMA, APRIL 23 (MExN): The Finance Department, General Branch, Government of Nagaland has announced a revision in the rates of interest for General Provident Fund (GPF), Contributory Provident Fund (CPF), and All India Services Provident Fund (AISPF) for the first quarter of the 2025–26 financial year. According to the notification issued, and in line with the interest rates set by the Government of India, the interest rate for the period from April 1 to June 30, 2025, has been fixed at 7.1%. The revised rate has been approved by the Governor of Nagaland, the notification stated.

 

FGN dissolves Sumi Region

Kohima, April 23 (MExN): The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has announced the dissolution of the Sumi Region, led by Interim Midam Peyu Asukha Awomi, Tatar Sumi Region, Jerimo, along with their associates, with immediate effect. A press release from FGN Kedallo Haingau stated that the action was necessitated due to the region’s “deliberate and repeated failure” to operate in accordance with the Central Government’s directives. It further stated that the region had demonstrated a lack of transparency, prompting the need for dissolution. The FGN noted that any future reconstitution of the Sumi Region would take place only with the mandate of the Sumi people and directed the concerned individuals not to engage in any activities under the name of NNC/FGN going forward. Furthermore, it cautioned that any individuals, businesses, or departments engaging with the said persons in financial matters would be doing so at their own risk.

 

Fire at Mandir 41 AR Kiphire

Kiphire, April 23 (MExN): According to Fire Brigade Department Kiphire, outbreak of fire was reported at the Mandir of 41 Assam Rifle, Kiphire on April 22. The fire call was received at 8:27 PM on April 22 from 41 Assam Rifles Kiphire, stated a DIPR report. According to the eye witness and evidence, the cause of fire is reported to be due to electrical short circuit, resulting to severe damage of the Mandir. Two water Tenders and sufficient manpower from Fire Station Kiphire successfully managed to contained the fire in about 1 hour and 15 minutes, preventing it from spreading to adjacent areas. No casualties were reported during the incident.

 

NSCN-K (Khango-Hokato) issues ‘Termination Azha’

Dimapur, April 23 (MExN): The NSCN-K (Khango-Hokato) has terminated Carlos Zhimo, Kilonser, and Nillo Sheyipu, Kilonser, from the “Active and Primary membership of the government.” A “Termination Azha” issued by Ato Kilonser Hokato Vusshe stated that they were terminated from membership for “willful defiance of the government Ahza and the breach of Article 5, clause (11) of the Party Discipline of the NSCN.” This Azha comes into immediate effect from April 22, it added.

 

K Tokugha Sukhalu convenes Introductory Meeting

Kohima, April 23 (MExN): Advisor and Chairperson of the Committee on Urban Local Bodies & Nagaland Village Councils (vis-a-vis The Nagaland Municipal Act. 2023 and The Nagaland Village and Tribal Council Act of 1978, as amended up to 2022), K Tokugha Sukhalu, have convened its Introductory Meeting on April 30 at 11:00 A.M in the C. Chongshen Committee Room of the Assembly Secretariat, Kohima. All the Committee Members have been requested to make it convenient to attend the meeting.

 

NNC/FGN meeting on April 28

Kohima, April 23 (MExN): The monthly Meeting of the Naga National Council (NNC) and the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) will be held on April 28 from 10AM onwards at the Transit Peace Camp (TPC), Kohima. The focus of the meeting will be current situation and foundation of the Naga Nation, informed a press release from the Rali Wali Kilonser, FGN. It further requested all the Central Authorities, Regional Authorities, leaders of the Naga Women Federation (NWF), Naga Youth Federation (NYF) and high ranking Naga Army officers of the NNC/FGN to attend the meeting.
