KMC informs panchayats

Kohima, August 7 (MExN): The Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has requested all the panchayats to submit details of children if any who have been orphaned or have lost either of their parents due to COVID-19. This is in adherence to the directive issued by National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) for dealing with children affected by COVID-19. The concerned Panchayats have been requested to submit the details on or before August 25 during office hour for onward submission to the Government. The required detail include; Name, Age/Birth Certificate, Gender, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Death Certificate of Parents (Death due to COVID-19). This was stated in a release issued by KMC administrator T. Lanusenla Longkumer.

Governor greets on Metemneo 

Kohima, August 7 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland, RN Ravi has extended Metemneo greetings to all the people of Nagaland especially to Yimchunger community. The Governor in his message said that during the celebrations, Yimchunger seek blessings for a bountiful crop-millet in particular. The five-day celebration has different significant rituals being performed each day. Traditional rituals of this festival reveal the importance of proper sanitation and hygiene. Forgiving one another and strengthening the familial and social bonds are the essence of this festival. “Let us celebrate this beautiful festival following Covid appropriate behaviors. On this auspicious occasion, I wish you all good health, happiness and prosperity. God bless Nagaland!” he conveyed.

NNC appeals to observe 75th Naga Independence declaration

Dimapur, August 7 (MExN): The NNC (Parent Body) under the leadership of Yilow Humtsoe, Zhiongba Yimchungrü and V Nagi made an appeal to all the Naga people and particularly the National workers of all groups to celebrate the 75th year of Naga Independence declaration on August 14 under the main theme, ‘Naga National Unity.’ “As we all know in reality that without Naga National unity there is no way to achieve our freedom with one political solution as desired by the people. Therefore, let us come together to work out this urgent need of the hour for the best interest and as desired by our people,” NNC Information & Publicity Wing stated in a press release. The NNC also directed all the Regional councils, Sub-Regional Councils, Women Federation etc to celebrate the Day with the theme in their respective regions in ‘solemn prayer and petition to our Living God.’ 

STD condemns Noklak case

Dimapur, August 7 (MExN): Sangtamlarü Thsingmüjang Dimapur (STD) while condemning the alleged molestation of two minors at Noklak town by the former DC has urged the law enforcing authorities to give justice at the earliest. It demanded that the accused must be put under immediate suspension and arrested. A special investigation team must be formed and matter be investigated thoroughly and the accused be put to trial at Fast Track Court, the union appealed. It also demanded “state protection” for two minors. Further, the union has also condemned the ‘defamatory statements’ made on newly crowned Nagaland DIVA 2021 at YouTube live telecast. It urged law enforcing authorities to book the culprits under Section 153 (A), section 294, section 499, section 504, Section 505 of the Indian Penal Code and deliver justice to the victim communities and the people at the earliest.
