Nagaland records 61 fresh COVID-19 cases, 3 more deaths

Dimapur, August 14 (MExN):  Nagaland reported 61 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday taking the state’s cumulative tally of cases to 29,097. According to the state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), the new cases were detected from Dimapur (34), Kohima (11), Mokokchung (11), Peren (2), Kiphire (1), Wokha (1), and Zunheboto (1). The state’s death toll increased to 583 with 2 more fatalities reported from Dimapur and 1 from Kohima. As per the IDSP, 124 patients recovered from the disease on Saturday and the total number of recoveries in the state is now at 26,388. Nagaland now has 1,278 active cases.

GBUD emergency general meeting

Dimapur, August 14 (MExN): The GB Union Dimapur (GBUD) has called for an emergency general meeting on August 16 at 10:00 am, Lotha Hoho Ki near DC office junction Dimapur to deliberate on the issue of appointment of Gaon Buras in Urban areas proposed for consultative meeting convened by state government. In a press release, GBUD President and General Secretary have informed all concern GB members to attend the meeting without fail. 

I-day celebration to be live streamed

Kohima, August 14 (MExN): The Nagaland Home Department has informed that the state level function of the celebration of the 75th Independence Day on August 15 at Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza, starting from 8:45 AM, will also be live streamed on the MyGovNagaland’s YouTube channel. Interested viewers can watch the event online on YouTube and facebook by visiting MyGovNagaland page or by directly clicking on https:/www.youtube.com/watch?v=QA2vdoeWshO. This was stated in a release issued by Nusieta Rhakho, additional secretary, Home, Nagaland.

KNSK Tobu Unit condemns cyber bullying

Tobu, August 14 (MExN): The Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK), Tobu Unit has strongly condemned against two individuals for making hateful and abusing comments on socials media (YouTube) against Miss Nagaland Diva 2021 winner. KNSK Tobu Unit President, Neangmei and General Secretary, Nangya in a press release stated that the offenders not only despised the victim but also the Konyak and other tribes of Nagaland. The Union has urged all the right-thinking citizens to condemn the cyber bullying and also to law enforcing authority in charge to take benefiting action against the culprits so that such incidents can be avoided in near future. 

KU reaffirms ‘No Blood in Konyak Soil’ declaration

Mon, August 14 (MExN): The Konyak Union (KU) has vehemently condemn the recent Chen Loisho village incident where some miscreants from NSCN (KYA) had disrupted the public developmental works by throwing grenades on the Assam Rifle JCB that was clearing the village road (landslide area) where unfortunately one innocent civilian who was returning home from the jhum field was injured. KU Media Cell in a press release stated that basing on the Konyak Declaration and Resolution dated April 15, 2021 and reaffirmation that ‘No Blood in Konyak Soil’, the Union will stand firm and strong to uphold its declaration. “Such cowardly act and inhuman behavior in this present situation where all humans are striving for peace and tranquility shall not be tolerated nor entertained,” it said. 

NSCN (R) greets on ‘Khukhu’ festival

Dimapur, August 14 (MExN): The NSCN (Reformation) has wished good fortune to the Chakhesang people during the ‘Khukhu’ festival celebrated on August 16. Khukhu is a festival for girls where the girls are offered a special and nutritious kind of food to make the bond of the family stronger. On this very special day, girls would eat, play and make merry the whole day, MIP of NSCN (R) conveyed in a press release. “The NSCN (R) firmly believes that, just as this festival signifies, our Chakhesang brothers and sisters will continue to make the bond stronger to their women folks in particular and the Nagas in general. May good tidings prevail in each and every one of you,” it added. 

State Centre of Nagaland Languages 

Kohima, August 14 (MExN): Principal Director, Directorate of School Education, Shanavas C, IAS has notified that the State Centre of Nagaland Languages is set up under the Directorate of School Education, by re-deploying all the existing officers and staff of Language section. The notification is issued with the approval of the Cabinet vide Cabinet Cell Memo No.CAB-2/2013 dated 26.04.2017.
